Hi, I bought my M11X R3 on April. It was a great laptop.

But some time after that, it began to lags when I play games.
I checked the temperature when I play games and it is 95 oC.

The internal fan isn't dusty. Still, I bought CoolerMaster Notepal U1 but the problem still persists.

    What should I do?

If you are sure that dust is not a problem then you really need to get inside and repaste the CPU and GPU. It is surprisingly easy and there are no warranty stickers.

I did it without a guide you just make sure that all of the screws are removed before attempting to remove any part from the laptop and once you are down to the motherboard it is very straight forward. I applied ICD and my temps never go near 70oC now it made a huge difference.

If you are within warranty however consider sending it in for repair.

    Hi, thanks for replying, Yiddo.

Okay, I'm gonna try repasting it. Do I have to remove the keyboard from the laptop? Which parts should be repasted on the motherboard?

Here ya go fella. M11x Dissassembly.

When you remove the heatsink which is held on by the 4 clamps you need to repaste both the CPU and GPU at the same time as it is all one heatsink. Make sure you clean out the radiator as that could be blocked.

Here is also some info from our website about overheating on our laptops. If your computer is still overheating after the re-paste we may need to replace the cooling system, so please send us an e-mail to [email protected] with your tag, phone and best time to reach you and we'll get back to you ASAP.

I have exactly same issue for more than 1 year, since I bought mine. I have asked this question on dell forums about a year ago, but I did not receive the answer. I tried to contact dell/alienware support by email and I also did not receive any answer. FAQ on Dell website says that it is ok if your laptop gets hot if you use it for more than 15 minutes.
I hope my warranty still covers that. I bought my m11x r3 16 month ago.

Okay, I repasted the thing, but it's still hot. Any other ideas?

How hot? What program are you using to measure temps?

Repasting can be a bit tricky, you need to apply the right amount and spread it evenly.

imho the best approach is a small pea size in the middle then press the HSF assembly on (do not spreat manually) to stop air bubbles.

    Regards.

I did repaste using that method.

    When idle, it's around 50-60.

    Full load around 80-90.

Game lags after a few minutes then back normal then lags again, then normal again, then lags again.

    Any solution?

What paste did you use? What did you use to clean off the old stuff?

I used ThermalTake TG2 and some cotton buds to clean it.

You never cleaned the heat sink or processor correctly and that is your problem. Use this... Proper product

Then buy some ICD...best paste for the best price...unless you want to braze....
