Havent been around in awhile. My LCD sucks. I forget which model I have, it's a standard AUO or something.

Anyways - the real question, are they still shipping with these God-awful displays? I looked at my brothers macbook air display compared to mine and I was in shock.

My screen honestly DOES NOT display black. It is so washed out its crazy. I've always just dealt w/ it - but I'm seriously considering pressing Dell for a replacement, that is if they've switched to a better LCD yet.

edit: This is an R3 we're talking about

11" macbook air? Switch screens when he's not around ;)
To answer the question, yes the screens are still not very good, and the only way to get a good one is getting an Macbook air screen as they are compatible.
Dell can't get good screens for the 11x because the market has no good screens this size and mac must have a "closed" supplier because no other company uses those screens.

Wait so it is technically possible to replace screens of the M11X?

For sure. It's a pain in the neck though. For the most part you would just replace the whole lid entirely w/ a replacement Dell part though.

But if you want to get crazy, you take the lid apart, etc. But that's not a very realistic way to replace the LCD. I work on small electronics, laptops, etc all the time. But I hate doing things like that.

Has anyone swapped the Macbook Air 11" panel in??? That would be impressive.

It's a REALLY nice looking display. Makes me want to sell my M11X and get the air, to be honest. That thing is SLEEK. Not as powerful though by any means. Thus me getting the M11X. =)

The macbook air screen is in the same "family" of screens as the m11x screen, just way way better. It should be a straight swap over, but I have not tried it yet*, used macbook air screens are still in the $500-$700 range.

You would use the ribbon cable from the m11x screen, so not a worry there.

ahhh that is good information.... so you're saying if you could squeeze it into the m11x lid, you could be running the Air display?

    Tempting.

From all the tech specs that I have read, it should just drop right into the m11x lid and plug right in. But since I have no tried it yet I can not confirm it works.

That looks like it should be the right one, I know that its from the 2010 models, those should be a lg screen that will match our lg screens.

LP116WH4-TPA1 Is the part number of the screen you want.
I think appls part number for is it 661-5737
