Can anyone give me some guidance as to whether these components are compatible with the M11X R3:

    OCR SSD:
    OCZ Vertex 2E 120GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive (OCZSSD2-2VTXE120G) [OCZSSD2-2VTXE120G]

    8GB DDR3 1333 MHz RAM:

    thanks.

just realised I messed up the second link, it should be:

    Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz 204-Pin SODIMM Kit (CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9) [CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9]

anyone know if these are compatible? :)

All of these are solid choices for the M11x R3.

I went as high as 16 gb with my R3, have dropped it back to 8gb and run a 240gb ssd, W8 should be no problem either as it is technically a face lift of windows 7 with tweaks iirc.

    Regards.

Both are valid and should give you zero troubles with the m11x R3.

Is not the R3 SATA III compatible. Would not the user benefit from a SATA III SSD rather then a SATA II SSD.

That's what I was thinking. I plan on very similar upgrade, but my SSD choices are now narrowed to:
    - Corsair Force 3
    - OCZ Vertex 4
    - Samsung 830

With the ram, I plan to hit up a 16gb as 8gb is not really impressive upgrade from my stock 4gb (I know, I should've rather buy 2gb from alienware and buy 8gb elsewhere)... Try to match the speed of your current RAM (1333mhz in my i5 m11x r3) for least hassle.

I chose 256 GB Crucial M4 SSD for Windows Pro 8 upgrade.

In my opinion, for the SSD if you can get a good price for the Samsung 830 go for it.

About the RAM 16gb is a bit overkill, but to be honest it's always nice to overkill :D

What 16 GB ram kits have worked with the m11x [mine is an R2]? I just bought a kit and my machine crashes and resets [even on a clean install] right before the windows logo/boot animation comes up.

I have been looking for anyone who has successfully done this, but havn't found a post stating so.

You can only upgrade the R2 to 8 GB

I know per the specs that was the case, but had some hope since it would at least boot and register in the BIOS. Was hoping someone was successful.
    Thanks!

    Does anyone know about R2( I7 640um ) sata specs .?
I'm also planning on replacing the hdd with ssd, and will a clone installation be the same as a reinstall ( just did a restore to factory settings due to massive blue sceen chrash dumps issues )
