Hey guys ...
You know the stock M11X for 599$ right? I spent about an hour looking @ Youtube reviews but everyone who reviews the M11X stock and WoW is standing in empty cities or open zones to test the FPS.
How does it handle 10/25 man raids?
Battlegrounds?
Running through Org (near thralls room)?
I assume guild chat is readable, since you can increase the font size?
Since it's 11.6", is it fine for healer, dps and tanking (I'm a healer)?
---
Any FL Studio or Reason users out there?
Is it possible to make a track without too much frustration due to screen size?
---
Anyone create power point presentations/excel sheets and find that 11.6" is too small?
---
Reason I'm asking all these questions is that I will most likely be leaving for a humanitarian aid mission across the globe for several months to a year and this laptop seems to suit me perfect ...I'll be a volunteer teacher/aid worker and on my free time I obviously enjoy WoW/FL Studio. I can't lug around a big laptop so this seems like the best choice - especially for the 599$ price tag.
There's no way I'm traveling with the laptop in my sig![]()
So, friends, is the stock configuration (with the core duo) good enough for all my tasks? I'll be adding 4GB ram and a 500GB 7200RPM on my own.

I use adobe Photoshop and illustrator I think the screen is very legit and easy to get use to. Do use a nice external but when I am on the go. -
Wanted to know since the screen is 11.6", is it difficult to navigate (frustrating?)? But since you use it, I assume it's perfectly fine. I'm used to having it open on a 17.3" and didn't want the 11.6" to increase the productivity of a track immensely due to the screen size.

Regarding the excel use, you might become frustrated if you have two or three spreadsheets open and have to link/copy/paste data between them the whole time. But for general use, like budgeting and just creating data sheets its not too bad. Unless your older like my parents who need reading glasses I think you will be fine.

Oh for better multiplayer games just do stevenxowens optimization that changes the cpu priority from audio to network i.e. when the cpu becomes maxed, more cpu is given to network data than audio quality. The drop in audio is negligible.

How big/small a screen "feels" is based more on the screen resolution than the actual physical diagonal screen size in inches.
If you want a simple (and free) way to tell whether the M11x's screen resolution is acceptable to you, then just run your current setup at 1366x768 for a week. If it is not, then you will need to start looking at laptops that have higher screen resolutions (and therefore, start looking at larger laptops in general). -
This is based on my R2/i7
Spreadsheets etc..
I find it fine for this, I use a notebook for work which is similar size so used to it. You can always plug into larger monitor when can/need. It's wide screen so I find putting bars/ribbons on left side better (or just hide them).
WoW
Not done much since Cata but in WoTLk I was DPS (mage) in 25man including full ICC. The screen gets a bit cluttered, esp if you have lots of mods showing. I use the UI scale to alow me to adjust between M11x & Desktop resolutions and yes you can up the font size in the chat box.
Frame rates were >15fps at worst, not much under my desktop.
CPU OCed to 164, GPU not OCed, and Throttlestop makes things better
Other game play great. -
There is a video on youtube showing someone in dalaren and he seems to be running it more than fine. WoW is a breeze for this computer

, Fix your issues on the 3d g73 yet? Anyway imma help you out regarding the m11x on wow 10/15 raids etc... Basically the base r1 should do just fine, i suggest getting at least the 4gb ram upgrade and BT, but do not get the 7200rpm hd (instead when you have some money next, get an ssd)
Basically keep it at 4gb ram, BT and base hd.
Also do not get the cosmic black, (I have own both cosmic blk/lunar shadow) because it is a fingerprint/smudges magnet and when i say it will bother you it will bother you lol, people here that says they are ok with that are people that only own the cosmic blk and not the lunar shadow or haven't seen it before in person.
ok for the performance, i got the r1 lunar shadow back in April until October of last yr and played only WoW on it, I was in a Heroic Farm ICC25m guild in Illidan called Raiding Rainbows and the performance of it is pretty solid, the only time you will see your fps drop is in Dalaran in full force population (dipping from 30-25fps) and the Marrowgar fight in icc25 because of those movements and graphic blue fire lighting. Everything else is set to high at high resolution except put shadow a notch or 2 below. In most areas where leveling is impotant or farming mats (mining, herbalism) flying around and all that crap, you should see a steady fps of more than 100+ (vsync off) -
I'm definitely going to get one then.
I'm so excited! -

Here is my review of 25man VOA back in the day. Pretty Graphic Intensive. -

I dont pay attention to raids, but with native resolution and medium or greater settings I see zero lag or stuttering in pvp or raids. I have done BH and all the BGs just fine on my r1, and the rig runs cool to boot.
As for work stuff, I do use my m11x for my primary work rig and our timesheets are in excel. So I can say it does that well.
