I am looking at getting a new laptop in the 11" - 13" range. I am overall very impressed by what I've read about the M11X. Other than normal usage, I mostly play MMO's. I do have a couple questions.

    1. Is the i3 version coming to the US any time soon? I think that would save me some money since the biggest component I would use is video.

    2. I currently have a Gateway P-7811FX (9800 GTS I think). How would graphic performance compare to the M11X?

    3. Can I expect a sale on the R2 any time soon? I know Dell does sales all the time, but not sure if the R2 is too new for that yet.

You are better off just buying the C2D version. It's faster than the i3.

Thanks for the suggestion on getting the C2D and using google coupon codes.

Any idea on the "real world" performance difference between the M11X card and the 9800 GTS in my P-7811FX?

If you google nvidia 335m benchmarks there is another website the shows the benchmarks (general ones) for the graphics card. It is a 2nd tier card.

    Cards like 9800xx, 260gtx, 280gt, 460gt, 480gt are series 1 cards.

Series 2 are mid tier. (games at medium/high levels)
example is crysis warhead @mainstream level 36-37fps avg. (that's what my m11x plays at anyway).

So it will probably feel like a step down... Watch some vids on youtube of actual m11x gameplay and see what you think.

That would make sense, since the price point is likely to be about the same.

Dell New Zealand has the M11xR2 i3-330UM listed in the M11x range.

The M11xR2 i3-330UM is also sold in retail shops in NZ.

The M11xR1 SU7300 is listed at a lower price than the M11xR2 i3-330UM.

The M11xR1 SU4100 has been dropped from the Dell NZ M11x range.

Alienware M11x | Dell New Zealand

If this is reflected in other countries then the M11xR2 i3-330UM will be priced higher than the M11xR1 model(s).

The disappointing thing for Dell New Zealand customers, is the price of the whole M11x range has just gone up NZD100(USD70)
