M11x can now be configures with the i7 on dells online shop

Finally the M11x can get some CPU power, with the i7 640 going up to 2.225 Ghz in Turbo mode. Not bad... Its also advertized as overclockable, I wonder if its going to BSOD as well :p. Now, if they add metl chassis to the package, Ill start considering this beast.

Looks to be about a week early. Too bad they didn't change the LCD.

The LCD wasn't a main concern for me. I wanted the cpu and gpu upgrades. I plan on giving the system to one of my siblings after a few benches :p

Is the 335M much of an upgrade?

The 335M is the same GPU as first gen M11x.

Wow, who was it that several months black stated that they would introduce "Soft touch??" Looks like they were right. Plus the 335M is the same GPU as in the R1. The only differance is soft touch and the CPU. So if they release this now, than what is planned for E3?

I'm going to give it a month or two and return my R1 since it has a bad hingeand LCD screen cover, maybe by then they will have gotten rid of the R1s and send out an R2. :p

The 335m was the same gpu, but i was expecting they would use a different model, like something from ati.

Soft-Touch is going to make it look alot better than the r1 :p At E3 they are probably going to announce an m13x with a better LCD and an optical drive

Yeah, soft touch is a nice addition.

If they did offer an M13x with mobile i5/i7 and not ULV, I'd be in a dilemma between that and the Envy 14. As long as they offered a 1600x900 screen. But I doubt it. You're talking $949 for M11x, $1199 for M15x, they'd be competing with their own M15x, unless they plan on doing away with the M15x and replacing it with an M13x, or M14x would make more sense.

Now we just need to see some battery stats with the new CPU's. If the battery hit isn't that substantial i'll be stepping up to the i7 for sure.

Its also got Optimus! lookin good if you ask me...just a couple of key upgrades that give it a kick in all the right places (though I would like to see a better(brighter/higher contrast/maybe even higher pixel count) screen in there :) I'm with you DR650SE, I got a hinge that pops when you open the lid... if I wait a few months, maybe I can get them to hand over a R2 :) that would be sweet!

I doubt it. Chances are they'll change the hinge and/or send over a refurb M11x R1.

Thats what I'm hoping for :p But if not, it really doesn't matter, I don't need it for power so I'm not going to invest more.

the difference between the m15x and m17x is 2 inches. The difference between the m11x and m13x would be 2 inches, and the gap between the m13x and m15x would be 2 inches. The size between the m15x and m17x is not that big so we can say the same about the m13x. The perfect little set of laptop to be globally produced for every user :p

The battery life has changed to 8.5 hours i believe.

I'd really like to see the M11x and M15x give way to an M13x with the build quality of the M17x with better battery life.

Is it true they have gotten rid of the VGA port?

Gizmodo says they did, but Engadget doesn't mention it.

Why would they? If the m11x doesn't have an optical drive, what good is it without having all the ports it can get. Did they happen to mention why?

Looking at the ULV specs of i5 and i7.. I dunno it doesn't look that much better. Sure the i7UM is nicer but the i5, what's the speed dual core? Turbo is just for single core right? Anyway.. glad it's newer technology, I'm curious to see some benchmark numbers..

Excuse my ignorance, but what is "Soft Touch"? Does that prevent the oil marks?
