    Hi,

I recently bought an M11X and did a clean install of windows 7 Home Premium on it. I installed all the drivers available at the Dell website. However, now the graphics switching doesn't work. When set to "switchable" mode, which is the default setting in the bios, the graphics is stuck on the integrated intel chip and will not switch to the Nvidia gfx when I press the hot keys (FN+F6).

I can switch the bios to the discrete option and the Nvidia chip works just fine.

However it's pretty annoying that I have to go through the bios to switch back and forth.

Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix the issue?

If you installed the drivers in discrete mode, try re-installing them in switchable mode.

I'm fairly sure you have to install in the following order for it to work.

    Chipset
    On Screen Display
    Nvidia Driver
    etc
    etc
    Command Center

Might have to resintall the OS and try again for a clean driver install for everything.

Shouldn't you be able to just click the Nvidia icon in the tray and switch modes?

That's only if you use unofficial dox drivers. For certified Dell drivers it won't let you manual switch like that unfortunately.

Actually with the 197 drivers from Dell you can switch from the system tray now.

I installed them in switchable mode.

Oh man. I wonder if I can uninstall drivers and try again.

Right now i'm in switchable mode and I don't have an nvidia icon in my system tray. I can right click into graphics properties and get into the intel settings but that's it.

I'm still not sure what I should do at this point. I guess ill try reinstalling all the drivers in the above order and hopefully that'll work. If not I guess i'll reformat and reinstall windows.

    Hi this worked for me!

I uninstalled all nvidia drivers, chipset drivers (intel and jmicron), command center, and on screen display and then reinstalled them in that order above.

I think I messed up the first time by installing On screen display drivers last.

Thanks you so much for your help. It would have been a pain if I had to reinstall windows, drivers, software etc.

I'm guessing that you must have missed one of the drivers or had a weird install issue. There isn't a required driver installation order...

Glad to hear it is working now though!
