I've noticed my speakers have static sometimes when I turn it up high ever since I've bought it in October. Is it normal to have static-like sounds when the volume bar is a bit more than half way full?

What version of Realtek are you using?

    I'm using 6.0.1.6167 on an M11xR1 and I don't have any problems.

Listening to Winamp via HDMI to a Yamaha stereo system.

I seem to remember way back, people had some problems with Realtek and I'm pretty sure it was solved with an upgrade to the Realtek software.

4 days ago my speakers started popping at the beginning of any sounds played through the speakers. Click the remainder of the audio plays normally.

Internal speakers only. Both headphone ports and HDMI output are clean. Support is sending someone out to replace the speakers.

Tech came out and replaced both speakers. Everything works great. I had the same on-site tech (WorldWide TechServices) that I had out to replace my LCD assembly and he did an awesome job.
