Been playing around with the M11x more and more..

I can't get HDMI to work with my Onkyo TX-SR606 receiver at all (receiver keeps flashing No Signal).
Works fine if I hook it up straight to the TV but the NVIDIA HDMI Audio adapter does not report supporting Dolby Digital or DTS- only 2 channel PCM.

Now the Onkyo SR606 has a very poor track record for HDMI compatibility due to a daughter-board failure and mine is just out of warranty, so I'll probably be replacing it soon.

My question to the community- has anyone tried HDMI audio with a working receiver and can confirm the GT 335M will drive DTS/DD over HDMI or is the 2 channel PCM limit on the GT 335M itself? In my particular case I'm thinking it's the TV that's the limiting factor here as it will not accept non-PCM audio.

I know that ION and most other motherboard GPUs since the GeForce 9 series support at least 7.1 LPCM, so I'm assuming for a powerful and featured GPU like the 335M it should also be supported.

After some more experimentation I was able to make it work by forcing the M11x to treat the HDMI as a second display and then lowering the resolution to 720p. For whatever reason the receiver isn't happy with 1080P.

It also stated in the Windows sound control panel:
    NVIDIA HDMI Audio Device
    Max Supported Channels: 8

    Compressed Formats Supported:
    Dolby Digital
    Dolby Digital Plus
    DTS

I confirmed it was working by playing a DTS movie, it was rather jerky but I can attribute that to not getting the proper refresh rate over HDMI (for some reason it assumes it's 50 Hz which I believe should actually be 60 Hz for this TV).

Nice to know this system is also able to play 1080p content via HDMI with a proper receiver.

    Way Cool.

I'm typing this on a Sony 40" LCD via an ONKYO SR575 using HDMI.
NVIDIA HDMI recognizes the Sony TV.

Listening to Internet radio on the TV speakers.

Had a DVD playing earlier with no problems at all. TV is only 1366x768 and not full HD

My ONKYO receiver is so yesterday, that it only has HDMI pass-thru.
It has a spare HDMI port thus it's use instead of plugging directly into the TV.

To get 5.1 surround from my M11x I have to plug three RCA cables into the ONKYO receiver. It'd be nice to be able to split Video and Audio at the receiver using HDMI like everyone else. :-(

I'd be interested to know if one can listen to music (CD, MP3, Internet radio) on an ONKYO (Or any receiver) via HDMI? Mine wont do that due to the HDMI restrictions of the TX-SR575 so I can't test.

I'm finding my M11x is only limited by the devices I'm attempting to connect to.

Have a DELL U2410. Using the DisplayPort it's able to support the audio out on the monitor.

can the 335m gt handle true hd and master audio? that would be awesome- it could become my mega media center laptop.

If I can find a TrueHD or DTS-MA trailer I'll test it for you. My 606 supports both supposedly.

Yeah, it works fine as long as the receiver supports it. I had mine working with DD/DTS 5.1 and regular 2 channel stereo. I wouldn't get an Onkyo again for HDMI given all of the problems I'm having with this 606 but it's an Onkyo issue and not anything wrong with the 335m or the m11x.

Works fine with my Sony HTSS-1300 for DTS & DD5.1. Not tried the HD audio formats but passthrough works fine playing Bluray via my PS3 so if the M11X does passthrough it should work too. If I get chance I'll try a BR rip to the M11X.

i don't suppose there's such a thing as an external bluray player, is there? :)

i'd doubt it since the bandwidth might exceed usb2.0's capabilities... but still...

microsoft's xbox 360 HD DVD worked fine on a windows pc

I second nomnomnom shark's codecs are the only way to go for mkv support. Just remember to install the normal codecs first and then install the x64 components ones :)
Wiggy Fuzz I dont know where you get the idea that the bandwidth of a blu-ray player would exceed USB 2.0's capabilities. The maximum a blu-ray movie is going to be putting out isnt going to be that much if any higher than 10mbps. USB2.0 supports up to 48mbps without issues ;)

Yup, they exist. Very expensive though, but par for the course I guess given the price of slimline Blu-Ray drives. It's cheaper to get a BD player sadly...

    Hi Cadapin,

So when you used the hdmi as your secondary display, the audio did support multiple channels? and when used has primary display only support 2 channels?

    thanks for the clarification

Sorry to bring up an old thread. Started a new one but didn't get a response. Has anyone been able to bitstream TrueHD or DTS-HD master audio with their M11x? I have an ASUS SBW-06C1S-U and using PowerDVD 9 Ultra (came bundled with the writer) to read my blu-rays. Everything works well except I'm only able to bitstream Dolby Digital/DTS and not the lossless codecs.
