Hey fellas, very important for my application. I need to run this laptop on a 32bit operating system. Is that even possible? Also since this laptop doesn't have an onboard DVD drive, can I boot off an external USB dvd drive? So far i seem to be having issues doing that

I don't see why not. Well what I mean is that the CPU is 32bit and 64bit capable. It support both 64bit & 32bit instruction. Using Windows 7 32bit shouldn't be a problem. But finding a 32bit drivers could be a problem, since Dell don't have them listed. Meaning you have to find 32bit drivers from the hardware manufacturer from each hardware instead. Another problem that could arise since you didn't specified which Windows is that Windows XP work differently. I have a Dell Studio 1557 and having a hard time install Windows XP because Windows XP doesn't have the same ACPI that the CPU/chipset has. So, you may have problem getting Windows XP fully supported on the M11x.

Yeah, you are much better off just running Win 7 Pro 64 bit, so you have the XP VM at your disposal. I looked it up, and the XP VM does run in 32 bit mode. So you are good to go.
