Getting just a tad excited. Just crossed off Monday on my calendar. :)
Will BIOS A05 for my M11xR1 be the one to get me off the starters mark and onto a BIOS that is not A01? I'm think positive thoughts and I can feel a song coming on...

God, I hope they fix it soon. Im getting sick of it. For some strange reason, everytime the system enters windows (post login screen) the fan kicks in at max. This never happened in the beginning. CPU temperatures are at 34 and reboot won't help. Let's get that A05 bios update!

According to Dell's official spokesperson, it has 3 days left to fix this fan problem.

Little bump for this seemingly swept under the carpet thread; I'm one of those who has this weird fan turning off and on intermittently. It's sometimes interrupting my sleep when I leave it on to download torrents. Any fix for us poor guys?

I actually just passed out one night after work and left my M11x on over night and it was like negative -10F since I blasted my AC and the fan was still on.

I just don't get the designers/engineers of the program for the fan?
Is it that the GPU/CPU needs a constant high air circulation?

    I don't understand.
oh, and the temp for GPU was like 25C and CPU was nearly same and fan was still on.

A05 is needed and they should name it A05FANFIX

I just signed off on the A05 BIOS, which does have fan table improvements. It should be posted on support.dell.com soon. Please give it a try and let me know your thoughts. Sorry for the delays and sorry it took so long to get this released.

Really? A02 was just posted today.

Do either of them have the potential for helping battery life for the R2?

In a way I hope the M11xR2 A03 BIOS comes out first and we get to watch the M11xR2 owners wrapped in masking tape and used as guinea pigs regarding BIOS fan table improvements.

    Sitting comfortably Brain?
Can I get you a coffee?
    An extra cushion?
A picture book of butterflies to look at while we wait? :D

    Still refreshing the page, haha

Brian, since myself and others are waiting for the A05 release.
Are there other major/minor updates aside from the most important FAN issue?
    Thanks!

I don't know why this hasn't been promoted externally yet - I've made another request. Sorry for the delay!

    Here are the release notes:

    1. Added update to Atheros LAN ROM for Rembo 5 PXE support.
    2. Enhanced external ODD boot up.
    3. Updated fan table for better performance.

erawneila, thanks for the info, looking forward to the new BIOS.

Ah, the Omper Lompers fallen in the brandy chocolate again, gone boss eyed and now having a bit of a lie down....again :D

I'm sure all us M11x owners could chip in to buy you a bigger whip.

Basil Fawlty: [Pausing] I'll have a word with him.
Mr. Hamilton: A word? Man, you're gonna tell him, "lay it on the line!", and if he doesn't get his act together, your gonna bust his arse!
    Basil Fawlty: [Confused] Bust his...
    Mr. Hamilton: ARSE!
