Going to the Far East this Christmas to sight-see and say hello to relatives.

Contemplating taking my M11x for the ride to stave off inevitable boredom during layovers etc.

Just want to get your seasoned opinions on whether i actually need to purchase a separate step-down transformer for my UK 240v AC adapter or can i simply get away with getting a travel adapter (changes pin configuration only) and let the M11x AC adapter handle the stepping down/stepping up.

Did a quick google search and the general consensus is that most modern laptop AC adapters are able to step down/up by themselves without the need for a transformer....the last thing i want is my M11x to fry :(

I'm already aware of the customs and data sensitivity issues regarding the M11x and HDD respectively when travelling abroad.

    thanks in advance.

I just checked my M11x R3 AC adapter and it supports 100-240V AC.
So you only need a "pin adapter" to be able to plug it in the various AC outlets around the world :)

I went to South Korea with my M11x, and all I needed was a pin adapter. Worked like a charm.

I brought my Asus G73 on my holiday to the US, and found it WAY too bulky and inconvenient.

So while i'm here, i bought an M11x and absolutely love it. On-the-go, i couldn't possibly recommend any other laptop. Definitely take it with you, and i'm fairly certain a pin adapter is all you need.
