I've recently tried to put my laptop on to my tv, however when i plug the cable in i get nothing on screen. The laptop seems to know that it's plugged in as it stops my music playing but i have no image or anything on screen. I am just wondering if i need to set anything up, i have tried everything i can in my control panel and everything on the tv. There is nothing wrong with the cable as i can plug it straight into my fiancé's laptop and it works fine it also runs the xbox as well.

Do you have an R1 (core2duo) or and R2 (i5/i7)? The R1 must be switched to the 335m to output over HDMI. If it's an R2, I'm not sure.

What have you tried after connecting it? Does pressing Fn+F2 or Win+P let you cycle through display options?

You should press the mouse's second button at desktop, enter in Screen Resolution, and configure from there the screen share. But I did it on m11x R2, on R1 I don't know if this works the same way.

Its possible you are not using the proper resolution.
    Try 1024x768

Glad that worked. I would suggest moving the resolution slider up slowly to see what maximum resolution you can achieve on that "big tv"
By the way, the screen probably will go black on the tv while doing this so have it dupe'd on your laptop.

Sorry for pushing, but i have similar issue to my hdmi output on my m11x R1

I use my laptop in discrete mode with newest nvidia driver for gaming, but the nvidia control panel just detects the analogue output not the hdmi one.

i can't switch with FN+F1, if i do so, the Alienware OSD software crashes...

what do to? i get no output on the hdmi port

EDIT: oh my god, pls forgive my post. i haven't plugged in the hdmi correct in my tv ... x)
