Stumbled on this youtube video....I ordered mine on Dec 10 (still haven't received it yet). What do you think? To be honest, I'm still having my doubts...
YouTube - dell fixed m11x hinge -- they say
-
-
Well I just got a new screen put in on mine. I will let you now in a month if my hinge breaks.
-
After viewing this clip, I'm wondering if only the brand new M11x's are going to have the "revised" hinges and if they do, I'm curious as to when they actually started it. I guess I'll open mine up once I get it to see if I see anything obviously different.
-
Is this isolated to R1s? I have an R2 and can't reproduce this problem.
-
I doubt they fixed it.
If they did, they would have announced it officially to bring back the demands for alienware m11x back up. -
Without seeing evidence of a fixed machine, I won't believe a word. If I was doing that chat session I would have asked if they could confirm what the change is.
-
Lulz. They were just feeding you a bunch of bull in hopes of getting you to buy it.

@cheese
This is not limited to the R1's, given enough time your R2 will develop these issues. My hinges are on their way and I've had this for about 3-4 months now. -
It still amazes me that Dell thinks it's acceptable policy for their reps lie.
-
I guess I'm not the only one that has my doubts then.
-
I highly doubt it's fixed. I went ahead and loosened the nuts so the hinge isn't so tight. I looks to be putting a lot less stress on the plastic.

We all want to believe, just some of us need proof.
At the moment, that doesn't appear to be forthcoming. -
I personally think it's just luck. I'm on my second screen, and I have yet to hear a creak from the hinges, so that case isn't the only one.
