yes, just Fn+F6 should do it. a little window should pop up like: save power > increase performance.

If you have a Core i-series M11x you don't have to the optimus system will do it for you.

If you have a Core duo you will have to manually switch just hit FN+F6. FN being between your left control key and windows key.

I just installed Windows 7 32bit Pro on the M11x, and installed Nvidia's GT 335M drivers. I'm looking through the nvidia control panel, and also trying the Fn F6 which doesn't work anymore.

How do i switch to the GT 335 in Win7 32bit without any function key or tray options?

You have to use the alienware drivers from the dell website, otherwise it will not work and you will have to be running the GT335m all the time.

Just because it said 32bit doesn't mean it's lower tech. In fact there are still many USB device that only have 32bit drivers. If that's the device that he needed, then I guess 32bit is the only choice. Same with 32bit apps, I understand that Win7 64 bit does have good backward compatibility, but it's not not as good as 32bit. 32bit still a tad bit better in term of compatibility. I mean, if you have only 4GB RAM, there aren't much reason to go for 64bit OS either other than using SWAP space bigger than 4GB(maybe other that I don't know). Since most applications are still 32bit or at least have both version. I haven't very seen 64bit only application. But at the end of the day, it's about the choice and the need for it. If you need 64bit then goes for it. But as I said, I haven't found much use for 64bit OS yet.

Except in this case it cost him the use of switching GPU modes....
