Hey all, thankfully I'm actually typing this on my new m11x R2. Overall I think this pc is a pretty awesome little machine. I have a couple of questions though.
1. Powered up the machine today and found it couldn't detect the HDD. I pulled the covers off and re-seated the HDD and she fired up again. Has anyone else had this issue ?
2. On my keyboard, it seems to sag / dip a little bit around the G, H, B, N keys. Anyone seen this before ?
Thanks.

Everyone's keyboard is a little lower in the middle. I haven't heard about the HDD issue though.

Ok, well at least I know the keyboard issue is normal. Hopefully the reseat of the HDD has fixed it. I also noticed they forgot to put in a screw on my WLAN card. Something I can fix though I guess. Still....... should've been done at factory.

Perhaps only on the R2 ?

my m11xr2's keyboard sags in the middle as well, its only a week old.
got dell to send me a replacement due to this as well as other manufacturing faults...
never had a problem with the HDD, maybe it got loose in shipping of wasnt installed properly. -
Mine is perfect after taking the keyboard apart and screwing it by myself tightly.

If you want a quick fix to the keyboard sag, remove the battery and loosen the two screws underneath. The one on the left is the G-H key screw which is the problematic one when tightened. Just loosen it a bit and visually inspect the keyboard. The sag should be reduced when the screw is loosened. When done, cut a piece of regular masking tape and put it over the screw head so it doesn't shift around. Alternatively, you can dip the screw in thread-locking compound.

Haven't gotten my m11x r2 yet but it sounds like mechanically it was built by a retard

The funny thing is that, apart from its hinges, the m11x is solid, sturdy, and nicely designed. Its build quality, hinges aside, is noticeably better than that of many laptops today. -
Yep, my "g" key dips a bit (as do the others around it) But its not that big of a deal to me, I can't notice it unless I run my fingers over the keyboard
As for the hinges, I've been pretty rough on mine (opening and closing it rapidly, picking it up by the screen only, pushing the screen all the way back and letting the bottom/base of the keyboard lift up) , and I haven't had any problems. I ordered my M11xR1 on Feb 11, I've had it for almost 3 weeks (which Ive read the hinges start showing signs of failing about now) and nothing. Still very solid no squeaking, nothing. Still feels as solid as the day I got it. Only time will tell I suppose... -
Ok thanks for info on loosening the screws for the keyboard. I'll try it tonight.
Thanks. -
Despite what everyone else claims, I find the M11x quality quite subpar.

I can also confirm the keyboard being slightly lower in the middle. Albit very slightly. Not as flat as say an external keyboard. That's normal. If it's really sagging, then I would get a replacement.
M11x Just Arrived but already problems!
