Upgrading my ram on my r1 to just 1 stick of 4GB
However I'm not sure whether to get 1066, 7-7-7-20
Or 1333mhz, 9-9-9-24
I realize that it will be downclocked to 800mhz, I haven't really found a straight answer just mixed opinions.
Which would be more ideal? Both are the same price.....

Moving to M11x sub-forum as this is best answered by 11x owners... -
It's irrelevant. There is no noticeable difference in performance between either set of RAM. So it doesn't really matter which set of RAM you put in your M11x.
However, going 1x4GB instead of 2x2GB of RAM means you forfeit dual-channel operation. You need two matched sticks of RAM to use dual-channel mode. Dual-channel mode gives you an almost unnoticeable boost in real-world performance, but you might as well take advantage of it if you can. If you don't really have a good reason to install 1x4GB of RAM other than an obsessive-compulsive need to keep the machine as "clean" and "upgrade-ready" as possible, then don't do it. You really don't gain anything by going 1x4GB vs 2x2GB.
Having said all that, if you still choose to buy 1x4GB, get the 1333Mhz 9-9-9-24 RAM. The reason is because a 1333Mhz stick of RAM is more versatile, in case you happen to buy a laptop in the future that accepts 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM or choose to sell it.
