M11x Nvidia Driver Latest Update Functionality Issue

Hello all,

as you can see this is my first post on these forums. I have been a lurker for a while and have found the information here invaluable when I need help to figure out something I'm not sure about.

On that point I'm hoping someone knowledgable and kind (or just knowledgable!) can help me out with some questions I have.

The latest gpu drivers from nvidia are NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M 280.26, the most current stock drivers for my m11x are 263.08 from Dell.

Having disabled onboard gpu and installed the drivers from Nvidia it seems like a pretty good improvement over the stock drivers from Dell, however here in lies the rub.

The functionality of my M11x has decreased. Now when I close the lid on my Mllx it no longer goes into sleep mode but just seems to hang without waking when the lid opens again.

I have looked through various threads here, and one in particular by nautilis regarding hybrid driver packaging. However, it has been sometime since anyone updated the thread with any current information on recent drivers.

So now that I have bored you to death, I guess my question is, is it possible to have full functionality of my m11x while in discrete mode with the current nvidia drivers or do i have to revert to stock?

by full functionality do you mean being able to switch back and forth? that would be stock drivers or the 263.08, any other more recent one you loose that feature

so the laptop freezes when you close the lid?

 

I'm not too fussed about having switchable graphics. I can do that from the bios if I need the extra battery life.

I do however want to be able to close my lid and not have to forcefully shut down my laptop to have it wake up.

Its seems that in discrete mode this is the case.

well if you switch to the newest nvidia drivers you wont get that older feature, even if you disable the discrete in the bios, i had that idea a few days ago but i was told it doesnt work

though as to why it hangs, im not too sure

 

aww shucks, that sucks. i have all sorts of kit for dj gigs i do. midi controller and external native instruments soundcard. card and midi controller are all backlit so its pretty neat when you open the lid on the m11x to see it all switch on and lightup together!!!

hopefully someone smarter than me will make a hybrid package for the new drivers.

 

Do you have this issue on a fresh boot, no ext devices, sleep mode, then wake? If only occurring when devices are plugged in you may have found your issue.
