Recently I shared some folders on my desktop pc and tried to copy them via wifi to my m11x. Same time I was surfing internet on m11x, chatting in skype and was doing some other thing. And then, suddenly, my m11x friezes. Waited for 30 sec and then pressed power button to turn it off.

After reboot I repeated everything and after an hour another freeze. I own m11x for 3 month already, and never encounter anything like it.

But I must say that this was my first time when I copy something via shared folders and wifi... Can this copy process somehow freeze my m11x?

BTW, why my speed over wifi only about 2,5 mb/s? While on Ethernet i have over 10mb/s

Does it freeze every time you try to transfer?

Also an ethernet connection will almost always be way faster than a wireless connection. When it is done over a cable it is a solid connection, rather than relying on the mediums and distance being traveled.

To answer the speed question, wifi is always much slower than wired. 2.5mb/sec is pretty good for wireless. (edit: beaten by tweak :D)

To narrow down the cause of your problem, try repeating what causes the freeze with one program that was running not running at a time. It may be something with Skype or another program specifically, or it may be a problem with them running at the same time (Windows uses files called dynamic link libraries (DLLs) that have common functions for programs to call, and infrequently multiple programs interacting with them in a certain way will cause problems). Narrowing the problem down to the cause is the first step towards finding a solution.

Gonna bump this, because I think I just narrowed the problem of my freezing m11xr2 to Skype. My computer always freezes when I'm in a Skype call, especially when I'm gaming. When I'm not in a Skype call, as I recall my computer has never frozen.

Vorob, ever figure out what the problem was? I've done memory tests, spoken to clueless Alienware support, and the only culprit now seems to be Skype.
