maybe someone can mod the M11x R1 Bios to have
Integrated/Discrete/Switchable like the Lenovo
for the bios to-mod, please use the already +0.5v 3D from my host, adding the integrated/discrete [personally I don't care for the switchable or optimus, I want to select from BIOS for Integrated or Discrete]:
BIOS Mod GPU 3D 0.95v m11x R1.zip
PS: maybe raise the fan temp threshold so the fan doesn't start that often when oc enabled and discrete graphics, more because of the gt335m [using oc disabled and integrated graphics the fan doesn't start unless working, with docs/music/movies the fan is silent]

Hi, i have 263 driver, there is any chance to upgrade it keeping the switchable function?
(Help me)
-
I've had all 3 M11x Models and finally back to the R1 since I gave my brother my R3 after I built my desktop. Thanks so much guys for keeping this machine going and maximizing its potential. <3
-
Thanks dude!! -
had you tried with 285 before? Any diff?
-
Only tested with one game so far. PES 2013, I would say I've gained a few FPS with the new driver.
Haven't check on the battery consumption, but my 2.5 years old battery is pretty much worn out anyway -
I'm about 30% batt wear and get approx 2hr run time if that helps any. If no real gains over 285 I doubt I make the effort.
Thanks for update! -
According to the self-test button at the back of m11x, my battery wear is about 80%
But SIW said it is 39%
IMO, there's no need for you to change when you're not having any problems with the 285. I was just desperate to try these out since I had problems with the Dell driver.
I love not having to close apps before switching gfx
No problemo! I am just another m11x owner hoping for this kind of community to keep our little beast going!
EDIT: Ok.. Just had a test run on the battery, it lasted.. 45 mins
Think my battery is dying faster than I thought.. Before changing to this driver I had about 2 hours I think -
After getting some hardware not detected issues I wanted to reinstall drivers. Moved to 295s above (maybe solved problem, still testing) without issue. Same batt run time as expected between 285 on page 1

Hey guys does anyone know any other links to the 2 download links posted on page 1? I know they've been up for a quite a while but they appear to be down now. When I click the hybrid/optimus file appears to be deleted or moved. I can find the Intel Display driver using a search though. Any ideas?
Thanks! -
295.73-Optimus Beta.7z
I don't know if it's completly the right intel driver I found but it was the only one I could get to work.
Win7Vista_64_151717bb - Download - 4shared
I couldn't install the intel driver using the setup.exe, i got an compatibility error all the time, but I could do it by manually with the "have disk" method.
Maybe the issue is me running windows 8.
Any way I couldn't get it to work properly, when opening the Nvidia Control panel and make it show the animation it switched perfectly and also back agian.
But when starting a game it didn't switch at all.
Choosing optimus to run the nvidia card only causes nvidia control panel to freeze and after a reset the settings are back at auto. :/ So I gave up. -
Thanks a lot Henrik! I will try those links. Also, i found that when attempting to install the nvidia driver or intel driver in Windows 8, it would either give an error or it would install incorrectly. It works sometimes if you disable driver signature enforcement in advanced startup in Windows 8

Heres a manual that i MADE for this kind of problem , i had the same problem so
i wanna share this manual , its a powerpoint with solutions and programs

Yes! Thank you, they work. Sorry for not replying earlier to let everyone know, was busy with classes. This still does not seem to work that well on Windows 8 unless you disable driver signature enforcement.

Great job on the PowerPoint. Looks like you put a ton of time into it. It will be useful!

Greetings,
Updated the INFs for the latest 337.88 whql drivers. I just wanted to share. Open them, over-write your copy of the 337.88 drivers and install.
OR you can open them, view what I did, learn what I did, and you can do the same for yourself in the future.
Optimus vs Hybrid:
Optimus is easy to "just leave it be and let it do". The NVIDIA card does not turn off completely, but it goes into a low state reducing the power drain.
With Hybrid, the NVIDIA card turns off completely, saving a bit more battery power, but is a pain (IMO) because you have to shut off anything that might be using the NVIDIA card, just so you can switch manually, and sit there for 5-10sec watching it flip the screen off/on... why not just let it go smoother? Just my opinion.
Because of all this, I go for the Optimus approach, which requires tricking NVIDIA's drivers into thinking you have true optimus.
If you have everything installed and setup, and just want to upgrade to 337.88, then follow below. If you need to install everything from scratch, skip down. If you want to learn how to do this yourself, skip down to the bottom.
I have 4 kids (one a new-born), a job where my company is threatening layoffs, money troubles, and ADD, so expecting me to check back here to answer questions is asking a bit. I truly apologize! I would like to help everyone, hence taking the time (while rocking a sick 3 month old) to just do this is about as best I can do, but I wanted to do this for anyone who might have need further down the road (as this may be the last post before this thread dies)
Instructions to install the INFs (if you already have a previous version working):
Change 337.88 driver download from ".exe" to ".zip".
Open and extract to a directory.
Place the two INF files in the attachment into the Display.Drivers directory. (you have to overwrite the two that are already there)
Run Setup and install.
Fresh Install (if you don't already have the setup listed previously in this thread):
Download 337.88 drivers from NVidia
(For 64-bit...)
NVIDIA DRIVERS GeForce 337.88 Driver WHQL
Download Version: 15.17.19.64.2869 (latest) drivers from Intel
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=22167
Download the modified INFs
https://www.mediafire.com/?mwwwa8oc9vavr82
Extract NVIDIA to a temp NVIDIA folder, Intel drivers to a temp Intel folder, and the INFs to your temp NVIDIA folder (you should HAVE to overwrite 2 files in the Display.Drivers directory where the original INFs are stored).
Go into Device Manager
uninstall (delete) the Intel display adapter driver.
go into control panel / uninstall applications menu
Uninstall NVidia drivers from there.
disconnect any internet (so it doesn't go downloading drivers unnecessarily)
Reboot... upon reboot, display comes back ugly (expected)
Install Intel drivers, reboot if necessary
Install NVidia drivers (use CLEAN install, select CUSTOM, remove options for NVIDIA Experience and 3D Stereo as we don't want it auto-updating and our displays won't do 3D stereoscopic)
After a reboot or two more, you should be up and running fine.
NOTE:
If you want the "NVIDIA GPU Activity" monitor in your task bar, open NVidia settings, select "Display" drop down, click on "Display GPU activity icon in notification area"
I learned what someone else did to get a different set of drivers that support Optimus to install, and copied it, replicating it to each new set of drivers I installed. So far, up to, and including now, it works.
How to do this yourself, from scratch (you do not NEED to learn or do this... it's for those who would like to see what I did):
A - Be prepared to learn a bit about device IDs and drivers....
- Get/verify the GUID of your card -
B - Open Device Manager (right click on My Computer, select Manage, or from Control Panel, however you wish)
C - Open Display Adapters and double click on the NVidia card (m11x R1's = 335m)
D - Select "Details" tab
E - From drop down menu, select "Hardware Ids" (second option)
F - Get second line, mine is (and yours SHOULD be) :
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0CAF&SUBSYS_04431028
- Find GUID in infs and modify -
G - We comment out all instances of our GUID in the "nvcti.inf" by finding them, then adding a semicolon to the beginning of the line. In this case, it shows up twice.
H - We take the section of our GUID between the "&" symbols (in this case "DEV_0CAF" ) and find similarities in the "nvdmi.inf" file.
I - You will find that with each line that matches, the last 8 digits of the GUID in this file are different than ours. Change the 8 digit number in the end to ours. (In the case for this version, there are 3 instances... I changed them all, and it just uses the one that matches our hardware)
J - Save modification, run Setup, follow steps. (it doesn't hurt to do "Clean installs")
A NON-TOPIC RELATED NOTE....
Last, but not least... FYI - I've had difficulties with those voltage modification BIOS updates. I've already had to "Unbrick" my M11x... I will not try again (I think... sometimes I'm persistent like a village idiot searching for a drink in a dry county). Beware if you decide to try this, have a thumbdrive ready to unbrick it. Another note - I was able to do the thumbdrive setup with a 64 bit Windows 7 OS (I set the executable to Run as Admin, and compatibility mode, XP) so I'm not sure why they keep stating it requires a 32bit OS. Second, if you have to unbrick, keep that END key down and let it keep beeping. It's ANNOYING (don't do it while kids are sleeping). It sounds like someone's got murmurs on a heart monitor, but once you hear the "he's dead jim" long tone, it will turn off and you'll be good to go (you can finally let go of the END key once the laptop turns itself off)
Take care and the best to all.smsmasters and terranaut like this.
