You look a little under the weather. If I were you I'd take the day off tomorrow and "rest" up.

I just got my m11x with the same specs as yours and I don't understand how this could be called a gaming notebook. It cannot play BC2 at all. Seriously, those who say bc2 is playable must be used to playing games at 20fps.

The Alienware M11x is not a top-end gaming computer. It isn't even a bang-for-your-buck gaming computer. If you want a machine that can play games really well today, and still play games well 2 years from now, then the better choice would be a desktop system or a larger 14" laptop with more a more powerful GPU and CPU.

The reason that people like the Alienware M11x is because it is a small laptop that runs games very well for its size. It will get 30fps - 50fps in most games at medium or medium-high settings. For a gaming computer, that performance isn't that great. For a 4.5lb 11.6" laptop, that performance is spectacular. The value of an M11x is its size and portability, and not its raw gaming power.

BC2 seems to have issues with the R1 and R2. If you're looking for a gaming computer then why would you even consider a laptop int he first place? Granted, I use mine to play lots of games (currently have 10 installed) but I understand that I can't run all of them at native res/max details/etc.

This is why desktops and the upper tier (M15/M17) were made. To the OP, don't forget to BIOS overclock it, it'll give you a nice little speed boost.

I have had 4 nights with only 3 hours sleep since getting mine.

I would have pulled a sickie, but I have not long been back after six months of sick leave!!

Well, Anandtech benched the M11x R2 at 31fps on medium settings. That ain't too bad for a small little mobile machine.

The machine can play BFBC2. I have a whole optimization thread that can also help out the R2 folks as well. The bottom line (whether r1 or r2) is that this game really pushes our little machines to the limit. The gpu is capable of medium details but the cpu holds us back. The I7 folks seem to have the smoothest game play of anyone. My advise, optimize, find low ping servers, check your own ping times, and play. Even R1 folks like myself can play this game MP on low levels. (which is what I do). I do have a m15x on the way because I want to play BC2 at high details, fully maxed out. With vietnam download on the way, MOH, Crysis 2 and others I need to get back to higher end gaming. Best Wishes, StevenX

I haven't updated squat on my i7 yet and I played BC2 just fine while mobile (even) this past week on the plane. :)
