Thought I'd make this thread... to get us started, I'm interested in the R1 and R2 battery life, any ideas on that?

About the same to up to 30 minutes less, look at other laptops that made the ULV C2D to iX jump and that is what they got.

I read somewhere that the R2 i7 doesn't have a VGA connector? is this the same with the i5? and is there any other differences like this compared to the R1?

I just copied and pasted my reply from the battery thread.

Hmm I don't know. Window's normally way optimistic estimated battery remaining time has not gone much more than 5 hours on 100% battery, 1/2 brightness and the thing idling. The R1 I've seen 7-8 hours estimated. I seems it'll only go ~4hrs at best just doing regular Windows stuff..

if it's 5 hours with half the brightness and the thing doing absolutely nothing, i think 3 hours is a much more safer bet if you're doing normal usage, if you're gaming then lol not a long time

If I remember correctly I had mine playing HD 720p video (Media player classic) on battery, 1 or 2 bars below min. brightness with WiFi off and lights off for about 5 hrs 25mins. That was roughly what was predicted by Windows (it predicted 5hrs 40ish minutes), but the laptop shut down around 4% or so on battery (I mean literally turned off to battery drain not Windows shut down).

With WiFi on 2 bar above min brightness, Windows predicts 6:53 hrs on R1. I presume you could toy around with settings to extend it (WiFi has some power savings that I disabled and so has Intel IGP, you can turn lights off and tweak other things in Windows Power Schemes.

So, can everybody confirm all the battery times on the R2 ??? If you own it !!! don't just guess... so we can get a real comparison with the R1

    Thanks
