So my m11x r1 warranty is ending very soon. Is it worth extending it for another year for the $200 I think the price is? The only time I've used the warranty was to fix the hinges twice. But I heard the hinges are also covered outside of warranty? I take really good care of the computer and it's in really good condition for the year i've had it. My only concern is the hinges messing up again. Should I cough up the $200 or should I save it and possibly sell my m11x and maybe get a m14x?

Save your money. With all the r1s going out of warranty, if something breaks parts are pretty easy to find.

I got my r1 replaced at the very end of my warranty and got an r3 as a warranty replacement. I was so impressed that I decided it was worth it to buy an extended warranty from Dell . I also bought a screen protector from them but they wouldn't sell me the new DW375 BT adapter (the DW365 only works with r1 and r2). Oh well: Their loss! It was probably cheaper to order online anyway because Dell would have likely charged $40 for it just like the 365 before it.

It is worth remembering - if I'm not mistaken - that the processor and graphics card are soldered onto the motherboard , and in case of failure of one of the components need to replace the entire motherboard. I like my R1 and prolong my warranty for another 2 years.

If anything from Dell is worth something. It's defiantly the warranty. The service is impeccable. Defiantly extent.

"Better safe than sorry" pops to mind.
I've learnt out the hard way over the years. Definitly go for the warranty.

Warranty is always a good investment, especially when you have already had problem with your hinges twice.

200$ for an extra year is a very fair deal.

I extended 4 yrs for around 550. Longer period is more bang for the buck.
