Hello all. I have been reading on this amazing forum for ages now and finally decided to post something strange I noticed about my Alienware, because no one seemed to mention it.

My first problem is that when I leave the laptop switched on for let's say 3 days straight it crashes (not a blue screen). Does anyone else have the same issue or does anyone know what causes this crash? This happens when the laptop is overclocked and not.

Secondly, when I open my screen more than 90 degrees the hinge clicks. I can essentially live with the clicking but am I gonna end up with the screen in my hand one fine morning?

Should I return it? I live in Malta, and Dell warranty does not cover labour costs. Opinions guys?

Thanks, and keep up the good work here. :)

For the hinge, only you can decide if you are happy enough to keep it. Feel free to discuss the hinge issue here:

As for the 'crash' - check the event log. Take a closer look at the dump file if there is one. It could be a number of things. Not sure on leaving the system up and running for 3 days... my personal thought is the 11x is not something I would use in this manner. Just my opinion of course.

Feel free to continue your crash discussion but please move the hinge topic to the thread we have in place. Moving forward, we are going to start closing multiple hinge threads...

    Thanks.

    Apologies for the hinge thingy.

Where do I find the dump file? I tried to check if the crash was a blue screen with a software named blue screen view and apparently it is not a blue screen! Anyone had the same problem?

And ok, maybe the Alienware is a laptop but afterall it is an Alienware!! I had an HP 6 years old i used to use it all the time without issues!
