That's... interesting....
I was hoping to find a sub-$600 deal on it soon now that R3 is almost here, not seeing the price jump $200![]()
Lame, looks like I'll be buying a $435 Asus 1215B (AMD E350 CPU) instead, since I don't really need gaming on the go, just figured it would be nice if it was around the same price point ($400-$600).
-
Hmm that is weird. Maybe the Dell outlet has some good R1 deals?
-
but it was always at that price... 600 was with a disscount of 200 bugs..
-
I saw the 599$ price for the r1 for months.
But ya there is good deals on the outlet, Thats were i got my m11x in sig which was 820shipped
Saw couple r1s for under 600$ there just now. -
This is awesome cause now my i7 will maintain its value better.
Maybe this is indication that the r3 is imminent and dell wants to make prices stronger. -
m11x r1 surely will dissapear in some weeks...
m11x r2 will cost 100 or 200 dollars less..
and r3 will start at 999 bugs... -
just checked the alienware site and it is 800 bucks again.
-
Looks like they're trying to clear out the r2's.
-
-
I can get an 17 with 8GB RAm and 500GB for $759 with a coupon code.
-
I'd wait for another promotion to save a couple of bucks. IMO, $800 is too much for the R1 at this point, especially since there are rumors of a new revision with Sandy Bridge CPUs coming soon.
-
It isn't rumours, it's already out on the German AW site for example and will be here in US/Can on the 19th of this month
-
The German site (alienware.de) still has the R2. Where did you see the R3?
-
I'm highly considering it along with the M14X -
OOOH...das ubergood...danke
-
I expect the R1 to vanish and the R2 to price drop significantly real soon due to the imminent R3 US/Can release, so hold on to your wallets, guys, and don't buy anything just yet. -
sandy bridge i7 and 2GB Geforce GT 540M.. *drool* Makes me want to blow away my next year's scholarship money on a second m11x... must... resist...
I wonder what the battery life will be hm. -
It was 600 before because it was on "sale". now I am guessing it is not "on sale".
-
-
Voodooi is having an orgasm right now lol
-
Another thing is with Dell you need to add tax to the purchase price since they seem to collect from each state... on a $600 purchase for me in NY thats another $48, not including whatever shipping is.
If I buy a netbook from Newegg, they don't charge any sales tax and shipping is probably cheap or free
I'll wait till next week to see what Dell does on Monday with the release of the R3, but if prices don't drop, gonna have to go with the cheaper netbook on this one.
(I have a beefy desktop to play games on anywho) -
Here is a great price for an i7.
Alienware M11x R2 (free extra battery) -
The Dell Online Store: Build Your System
Still $599 for military, down from original $888 -
What if R1 stays after R3 is released? So there would still be c2d and i5/i7 options. Otherwise there will be i7 r2 and i5/i7 r3 options?? Could be confusing for uneducated consumers. The general population probably doesn't know sandy bridge from London bridge.
-
10chars. -
Current 335M = 28W. R3's 540M = 32W.
So, a smidge more battery life when not using the GPU, and a bit less when the GPU is in use. In real world terms, I'd guess a decrease of maybe 20 minutes while gaming.
It's a shame they can't finagle a lower-wattage display for these things. I don't know the TDP for the M11X display, but I wager it's equal or greater than the power draw of the GPu... I get 90+ minutes more battery when I play games with the lid closed and HDMI piped to my TV. -
Wow, didn't see that Germany Dell outlet link to the M11x?! There you go, the m11x r3 is inbound. GT540M as well eh? Wonder what the performance increase will be?
-
-
It's all these amazing mods people are doing, keeping the prices up for DELL
-
Score... Never really bought a computer where the price has gone up with the same specs. Saved myself $200 bones.
-
The price is back down to $599. Do you think prices will change again tomorrow if a new one is released?
-
Just saw that the price went back down again. I am seriously considering ordering one of these at the $599 price point. This is for the R1 version correct?
Does this machine still hold up? Honestly I just want to use it to play some WoW and some of the Valve games on Steam (TF2, Counter-Strike Source). The $599 price point seems like a pretty good deal to jump on for a tiny gaming laptop like this. Or would it be wise to wait and see what happens with the r3. I'm just afraid they won't have something at this price point. -
Don't get it truz. There is a coupon code to get the R2 with 8GB RAM 500GB HDD and i7 for $759.

Not that great a deal. -
Not true. Try it for yourself.
-
That coupon code works on the R1 only. I tried it several times today. -
Whaaat?! Wow, thats new. I swear, last week, it said i7. I had it in my cart and all. Disregard. Must've been changed.
-
No problem, if the R2 was that price for those specs, I would have ordered it.
Waiting for the R3 to release then hopefully the R2 price will drop. -
Ditto. I think an OC'd vmodded R2 will be faster than a stock r3.
-
I'm also waiting for that. But what will happen to the R1? And will the R3 be released tomorrow?
-
R3 should be tomorrow, and the R1 pulled, R2 price drop, hopefully.
-
I'm trying to get the lowest price possible. I would buy the $599 R1 right now if I didn't hear about a price drop on the R2. How much do we expect the R2 price to drop? Should I just get the R1 now or wait to see what happens tomorrow?
-
If you aren't even moderately playing games, you could probably get away with the R1. -
I say, wait a few days. There's a big chance the R2 gets a price drop.
-
If it gets a price drop i say it be like 799 or 899, So the ones that don't want too spend anymore than 599 i would get the r1, Because i very doubt the r2 will drop that low right now. Than if the r1 gets drop than the people that wants it for that price will be out of luck..
Even tho you can get really good deals on outlet sometimes you can get a r1 under 500$ -
Ebay is your friend, btw.
-
It looks like m11x with i7 is not available on alienware site anymore.
-
now the r1 is back to $599
M11x R1 price went up to $800?
