I'm confused. I play a simple fps called Crossfire, its like a knock-off of CSS, and i get 50 or less fps. Then I play mw2 and i get 70-100fps. Are my settings wrong or something? I added the game to my whitelist so yes i am running it with NVIDIA. help please :(

different games will have different results depending how they are optimized. Question is, why do you need more than 50fps. 30-35fps is already smooth play. anything above that is a bonus anyways.

Not quite. That game is verrry edgy, and the slightest glitch will determine whether you get ahead or behind. For instance, a kid throws a smoke nade, and suddenly i get below 25fps, it's confusing. The game, as far as I know, has a simple script, so the engine should run MORE than smoothly for this game. I have used my friends desktop (he recently got a new video card) and the game runs at easily 150fps if not more, and THAT is a big difference in playability with the game, giving me a huge advantage over other players, because of the smoothness.

Ya, it's quite messed up, I get below 20 fps playing Sim City 4....a 10 year old game. Sometimes, even if you whitelist, it doesn't run the discrete GPU. For example, I whitelisted Sim City 4 and it still uses the integrated GPU

Most likely an issue with it not actually switching to the nVidia GPU.

Even if it was badly optimised, I find it hard to believe that Crossfire would run badly on any modern GPU.

On a side note, I have played it and it's kind of...horrible, really. Just buy CSS, it's much better.

And different games have different levels of motion blur in between the frames.

Modern games tend to utilise it extremely well so the game plays extremely smooth even at 30fps. Games such as Bad Company 2 and Crysis do this well.

Older games however don't utilise it well and will become increasingly choppy with anything below 60fps. Games, indeed, such as CSS.

(On a side note I also find Modern Warfare 2 to be choppy at anything below 60fps. Probably as a result of it being a complete console port.

hmm, interesting. but is there any way to make sure that it's being optimized, if the white list won't do it right? :/

I'd have no idea, really. I don't have an M11x.

Ask one of the people that are experienced with them.

That is bad. I love sim city and I would be really sad if I couldnt run it. So weird the nvidia GPU in the R2 model is not being used by the game even after whitelist.

I find MW2 to be smooth at anything above 45. Though, I rarely even dip below 60. Bad Company 2 on the other hand... 30 even 40 fps, doesn't seem smooth at all. o_O

Isn't there a way to force the GPU to run all the time? Make it act like switchable graphics in the R1

I don't have the R2, but I was curious. In the R1 you can also do that in bios. Well, if you can do that through nvidia control you can have a R2 acting like a R1 with switchable graphics and there shouldnt be problems kicking in nvidia.

    Hmmm... weird...
I would say that 1-) the nvidia global graphics settings doesnt make the R2 acting like R1 (it is not a substitute for switchable graphics) or 2-) the problem affecting the game is not optimus but something else (I am clueless now, sorry, can you check if the game runs fine in a R1?)
