I have recently got a second hand M11x R2, and done heaps of reading on this forum before and after I brought it. One thing I cannot figure out an answer too, or find here is when overclocking via the BIOS, is it normal to lose your overclock setting after a shutdown or reboot?

I have my i5 tapped out on 166MHz, and it is stable as a rock, but it keeps resetting to 133MHz at random after I reboot, and mostly if I shut it down overnight and start it back up again.

Anyone else have this problem, and is there any fix for it?

If your other settings are resetting as well maybe its the battery. Other than that I have no idea.

You could also try just leaving it on 133 and use setpll at startup to set it to whatever you want.

Yeah I thought the same about the battery, althought it holds the time fine. So I wouldn't think it would be the battery that keeps the bios settings.

Hmm the pll software mod did cross my mind, but I would like to still do it at the BIOS level.

Try re-flashing your BIOS? See if that helps.

BTW, nice that you can go to 166MHz and being stable as a rock! Mine only goes up to 160MHz at the most. Past that, it freezes randomly. :(

Still can't get this thing to stay at any setting above 133MHz. In which when I do go back into the BIOS it still has my 166MHz setting held intact but the laptop is not clocking to 166MHz and is on default 133MHz once in windows. The only way this will work with any BIOS overclock applied even if the setting is held in the BIOS, is to press F2 then save and exit, which is a real pain. Is the M11x meant to do what I have described normally, as in this is normal behavior?

btw. I have used setpll but find it just as announing as the BIOS setup that I have, and really just want to set it at the BIOS level and forget about it. How can I get the BIOS to hold and apply the setting without having to go back into the BIOS and re-save it each time?

I have the same problem, max I can go without problems is 162MHz, with 164MHz the wifi does not work, and with 166MHz I get a BSOD, anyway, I have a m11x R2 with the i5 almost since launch, 2 years I think, and every 2 restarts, it restarts the overclock to 133MHz, but in the BIOS is still selected 162MHz, but if I use a program to check temps or TP, it shows 133MHz, but like I said, in my laptop, is exactly 2 restarts to reset the overclock, Im used to it already, sometimes I don´t turn off the laptop all day to use the overclock, and AFAIK there is no fix, maybe with a RAM change, or a BIOS flash, I have not tried it yet, my battery is fine, so I think that is not the problem....

Yeah I backed off my overclock to 150MHz but even then I still have to re-enter the BIOS, the actual setting 150MHz remains intact, but I have to save and exit otherwise like you said it reverts back to 133MHz if I do nothing.
Mine seems to do this every time I shut down over night. There is no sequence I have noticed with my one, like every 2 restarts. It is a real pain, most times I power on and forget to re-apply the overclock, leaving me having to reboot to get my overclock back.
I have tried BIOS A02, A03, and A04, no luck with any of them :(
I wish I knew what it was so I could fix it, I don't think its the same for everyone else?
