    M11x R2 Battery problems?

    Hello, currently the average amount of battery life I have on a full change is about 3:30 to 4:00 hours. this is about 60% of the estimated 6 to 6 and half hours on a new m11x r2.

    I had my m11x r2 for about 5 months, got it in july.

    Currently, the status of my laptop is:

    hyperthreadding
    Turbo (but it never hits above 8x multiplier)
    AlienFX on dimmed and AlienSense
    Dimmed to the minimum
    Wifi off but I use a USB internet stick
    No Throttlestop
    No Overclocking
    Microsoft Security Essentials
    nVidia V.266 drivers.

    IDK why I'm getting such low battery life, my battery wear is 3.1% so the whm left is 62,500. On average I get about 12,000 all the way up to 15,000 Whm with out the internet, with the internet it increases by 2,000...

    So anyone know what's taking all the power?

    1st check that you dont have processes using up a lot of cpu. Then check to make sure you dont have a lot of i/o operations on your hard disk. I know my stock hdd can consume 3-4 W extra when its being used continuously.

    the only process that uses CPU when idle is the MSE and WmiprvSE.exe... but those barly exceed 10%

    The battery life of an M11x R2 is about 4 hours, max. I don't know where you got the impression that the M11x R2 should last 6 hours (although the M11x R1 can do that).

    If you do the math... 15,000 mWh's of battery drain on a battery that has 60,000mWh's of capacity is 4 hours of usage. For comparison, I also get about the same battery drain and battery life as you on my M11x R2.

    Before wiping and doing a fresh install I was getting 5.5 to 6 hours on a regular basis for the first two months. It would average 10 - 12k mWh discharge rate. After the fresh install I get 4.5 to 5. That's real time measuring of how long I can last in a given day on a full charge.
