    Hi all,

Just thought I would post about my first experience calling dell/Alienware regarding a computer fault.

One of the tiny rubber feet fell off of the back left of the base plate on my M11x. The computer has not been misused in ANY way and is in pristine condition. I have no idea how the foot fell off but it is nowhere to be found. As the laptop is still under warranty I figured I would give them a call for a replacement. I was informed that as the laptop is older than 6 months I no longer qualify for physical damage repairs despite the 1yr warranty.

To dispute this I need to send them pictures and an email explaining how this happened.

Is this normal? I had no idea that they would not cover physical damage to the machine after 6 months.

I will send out the email but if it fails will be subject to paying +/- £40 for a new base plate.

    Kinda sucks :(

Anyone else had a rubber foot replaced after 6 months under warranty??

    Thanks

I would, but need a little rubber foot. I don't want to attempt a botch job with a piece of rubber or anything.

It's a shame you cant order the rubber piece on its own.

My feet also fell off. Any aftermarket sources out there?

I have had both on my R1 falling off. This due to them beeing quite rubber-ish, so that if you slide the m11x on some suface's, the will fall off. If you are going to move your m11x, pick it up, don't push it.

It is easely fixed with a drop of good glue, but not if u miss the part.

Did not dell offer you to buy it? It can not be expensive...?

Yes they offered me to buy it @ +/- £40. I just thought I would try the warranty route first.

My legs are gone long ago. I replaced them with this:

Now its much easier to move it on the table.

    What do you think folks?

Is that bottom a real piece or a cheaper copy?

Whether or not it's a fake, it still may or may not have the rubber feet you need.

yeah, if you are missing the rubber feet that is on the side of the cpu fan.

all the rubber feet on the back of my laptop came off recently, Im thinking on doing something similar as vorob did, Im guessing that I could even make it higher on the back for better airflow.

My back two have come off, don't even know when, considered contacting for replacement, but I thought I might have been being a touch pedantic. In all honesty, it doesn't affect it all that much for me, I just have to be careful I don't scratch whatever surface I set it down on.

Got the same Problem a month ago. But fortunately thumbs up for Alienware Service (NOT Dell Service) in Germany. Called them, sent them some pictures and one day later a new bottom plate came as replacement.

The only Problem here is that the Windows 7 Serial is glued to the old bottom plate. Therefor the old rubberfeetless plate is now residing in my desk.

Just try it if you have Service-time left.

Yeh I think I will go the warranty route and see what happens. Luckily that back plate on ebay has the foot I need so I guess I could always go for that failing that warranty route.

I want it in mint condish when I sell it for an M14x :)
