Hey guys, I've been looking through different threads and working on my laptop all day to try and remedy a problem I have been having on my M11x R2 when playing Starcraft 2.

When I begin to play, with settings on Medium, I get ~40 fps, but after playing for a bit (sometimes between 10-20 min) my FPS drops to about 8-9 FPS and will not budge even if I change my graphic settings, making the game virtually unplayable. This has not happened with any other game I've ever played.

I have tried remedying this problem by: installing the modded Drivers for the M11x, using Dells current Drivers, using ThrottleStop to increase TDP, and SpeedFan to monitor the activity.

One thing I have noticed. When the problem happens during the campaign, if I pause, ALT-TAB out of Starcraft, and then resume playing after a couple of minutes, the FPS is restored at ~40 fps, but then after playing it again drops. Anyone have any idea what's going on?

Perhaps it is throttling, but many users of the M11x have no problems playing Starcraft 2 on high settings. Could this be a software issue?

According to ThrottleStop while playing SC2 my CPU reaches up to 80c.

I might have seen it go as high as 84c. I will test to see.

For me it happens in both multiplayer as well as campaign. I really have no idea what could be causing this kind of problem.

What's the driver you using? I played with stock driver b4 and can reach 30+ fps during campaign and multiplayer. But Campaign sometime will drop fps after long play.

Currently still using 258.96 modded driver and can get 40+ FPS on high settings and 20+ FPS after big battle in multiplayer games.

lock the clock modulation and chipset clock mod in throttlestop at 100% and it should solve your problems.

AS of now I have reverted back to Dell's 257.30 Driver. I'll go ahead and install the 258.96 modded driver and make the adjustments in throttlestop to see if it makes a difference. Thanks.

I was originally using the driver provided by Dell, "257.30" but apparently there are problems that it does not address in current titles. In any case, I will use any driver that dispels this problem. Currently I have installed the 258.96 modded driver and have changed the settings on my ThrottleStop. I will post back tonight when I get a chance to try SC2 to see if it helps the FPS slowdown.

I too was happening this problem for the past 2 weeks....
Tried everything as well but nothing seems to work...
Followed x11m advice to install the latest drivers from nvidia but it only helped abit with the fps when the drop came...

So what i did was when I got the drop, I immediately switched to Task Manager to see what is causing the spike. Noticed there was a process audiodg.exe (windows audio device graph isolation) that seems to be hogging the CPU at regular interval.

Checked out the net and it seems to be a common problem with W7 and the solution is to update your sound drivers. So i went ahead to get the latest drivers from Dell and installed them accordingly to instruction.

Just had a game of SC2 with hard AI on my M11x R2 which had been running for a whole day and the problem seems to be resolved.

Maybe you can try this out (update to latest sound driver) and let me know if it helps? :)
