Alright, Hey guys, I recently bought the M11x R2 laptop around a month ago. I am having a problem where when I am playing World of Warcraft my game will randomly freeze. Sometimes I can go an hour or 2 playing and sometimes I go less then 5 minutes before it freezes. I cannot ALT+TAB or CTRL+ALT+DEL to get out of it. I don't know what causes this problem. I get max fps with most settings on max. I am running the Core i7 processor and 4GB of RAM in this machine. I believe I have updated all drivers for this. This freezing problem has been happening since I got the machine but happens a lot more often now. If anyone could think of possible solutions or needs more information to help me solve this issue then please help out. Thanks :)

I have repaired my WoW a few times to see if it would fix anything in the past few days but it hasn't found any errors or issues. Also when my WoW crashes it doesn't leave an error log for me to check which is odd because crashes usually report them with an error log in the WoW folder. I will try to reinstall my drivers.

Kopicha do you mind going into your device manager and see how many Processors are listed? For some reason it says I have 4.

Has it just started this or always done it?
Does it do it with other games?
Does it ever do something similar with no games running?

I sounds like a GPU video card problem, You may have a defective card. If you Have messed with your settings. You should restore your bios to default and see if it still freezes. Does this happen with any other game?

Never freezes with no games running.

does the wow crash happen specifically in certain areas or something that you are doing in game? I have always been playing wow never crash once since day one i got this laptop regardless of which drivers that I am running on. do you have any sort of overclocking turn on be it CPU or GPU? That could be the cause too. If you do try to turn them off then try again. If crash still occurs and only specifically in wow. Since you already did repair, last thing you may want to try is to uninstall the video drivers. then use driver sweep to wipe the Nvidia files and settings on your machine then reinstall the video drivers. There is no need any specific version you should use since all that you can find in this forum should not have such issue with wow.

maybe something in the driver messed up

I remember years and years ago in BWL, there was a ramp where ATI drivers failed and couldn't render it causing the video to mess up really bad and crash

People would have to angle the camera perfectly to get past that obstacle

This recently started happening with my m11x too.Its very random could be playing for 5mins to 1 hour of wow then it freezes.Thought it was my hard drive going bad so I bought a new one,but Im still getting this issue.Tried using different video drivers and different security products, but none seem to fix this problem.Ran repair.exe multiple times and reinstalled wow several times too.I'm stumped.

I've had this problem once. I rebooted and never had the problem again. If it does not happen with other games, could it be the add-ons, if any, you have installed?

    ARRRGGG!!! Having this problem too!

Wow used to run fine, and I thought it was the 4.1 patch that caused these totally random freezes with the same symptoms (cant alt tab or task manager, have to restart to relaunch it).

Took out the HDD and put in a shiny SSD--new install, newest drivers, etc and STILL have the problem.

Can run for 2 hours or 5 mins, but it will freeze at some point.

Some find under clocking the GPU helps.

This is definitely normal for a faulty GPU. Mine was faulty and got on the phone with dell explaining that they only way it runs is through an underclock. They got a tech out here in 4days and i got a new GPU.

This is kind of an old thread... but I think I'm seeing some issues arise out of the new 4.1 patch. I thought it was my addons causing tons of lua errors and thus me freezing up, but since others are kinda reporting stuff maybe it's more than this.

It is an older thread and I am sorry for that--and it might be totally unrelated to WoW; it is just the only game I have installed.

No addons, no overclocking (and never had). Just started having the problems stock.

I followed several other performance guides to solving issues (most of them sounded superstitious but I was desparate). Only thing I haven't tried was underclocking the GPU..

no one should have to underclock there gpu just to get a game to run. thats simply unacceptable. if thats needed, get a motherboard replacement.

You should not have to do anything but we all do :)

There are too many variables from the hardware, software etc.. If it works, it works.

Me I find WoW is fine at the stock GPU setting, but gets flaky if I OC. I don't have this problem with other games.
