I recently downloaded Fallout 3 GOTY off of Direct2Drive and I've been having many issues. First, when I installed the game and began playing, the game crashed during the first 30 minutes of the game. And then again, the game crashed pretty in a pattern of every 30 minutes and even less if I were to enter a building. Second, my product key won't work with Windows Live for some reason and I won't be able to access the DLC without it. I've noticed some people with M11x's having trouble with this game.
Please help!

Try this for Fallout 3. Go to Documents\My Games\Fallout3 and edit FALLOUT.INI
Find the line:
bUseThreadedAI=0
change it to:
bUseThreadedAI=1
and add the following line right after this one:
iNumHWThreads=2
FO3 kept freezing every few minutes until I made the above changes. I don't know about the Games for Windows Live issues, sorry.

Just wanted to add that had the freezing issue with the retail GOTY version. I did the above edit and all appears to be running smooth now. Thought I'd comment in case anyone else having the issue and wanted to try this.

Don't suppose anyone can give me a hand briefly?
Installed Fallout 3 GOTY on a Vista machine than transfered the files in Programs to Windows 7 via a USB stick and copied them into the x86 folder. (This has worked on all my other games bar Fallout 3)
Since then each time I try and run Fallout3.exe a black screen flickers, then my normal screen, then black again and then back to normal with the game not run- no error program or pop ups saying the games crashed.
I've tried googling the problem, tried running the program as admin, different compatibility, deleting fallout.ini, letting my computer create a new one, and also updating Fallout to the latest version.
The only thing I can think of is that I need to manually modify my registry to make the game run. Anyone care to do a lovely job of getting me the details of their Fallout 3 registry?
Or does anyone else have any ideas? -
Uh... Fallout3 is little unstable (awesome game, but unstable) as it is. I'd strongly recommend installing it again. It probably will be worth the trouble.
