    Hey guys,

I'm wondering if it is normal for the fan to go on and off repetitively forever.
I noticed that when surfing on the internet or when the laptop in idle mode, my fan always kicks in and turns off and then kicks in later.

    1) Reach GPU temperature 52C. Fan kicks in.
    2) Goes down to 46C and fan goes off.
    3) GPU temperature goes up to 52C again in 8~15 mins.

Steps above basically repeats forever as long as I leave it on.

    Is this normal?

    EDIT:

By the way, I just realized that my touchpad is warmer than both sides of palmrest.
I think I am getting too sensitive with the temperature prob because winter..

    ill tell u my experience.
Mine also does the same thing and touchpad is warmer as well.
Got the r2 i7 when browsing net/idle, fan goes on at 54-55 then off at like exactly 46 then like 5 mins later fan comes on again. its most likely normal, a shame though cause i doubt the r1 has this but its not a big deal.

    Thanks for sharing your experience!

I just noticed that turning my bluetooth off greatly lowers my GPU temperature...
It rarely goes above 50C now, staying around maximum of 47~48C when surfing on the internet. I also think my touchpad is slightly cooler!

I'll try cleaning my touchpad; I guess there are a lot of "oil" on it. I'll prob open up my laptop and tighten some screws of palmrest as I had my m11x r2 opened today.

Man thats lucky you've found a way to keep it below 50 at idle/net.

I turned off bluetooth from the start and it still gets to 55 hmm guess i better look around to see what might be causing this : ( it'd be great to stop the fan going on and off.

Carefully turn the laptop over and look at the fan.

Did you try updating your BIOS as suggested in the other thread?
