Hello people, I am new to forums and seldom frequent it, so please forgive me if I have posted this on a wrong thread or I have posted in a difficult-to-read manner :D

As the title above, my M11x R2 have been having problem a few months ago. My FPS will drop to single digit or very little (occur in 0-7 fps, 11-16fps, 21-26fps, 30 to highest 41 fps, these are the patterns available when playing).

I have seen previous post on this forum and have seen a lot of helpful forum people helping, saying that the R2 could reach 40-50 FPS on High setting with low shadow on DotA 2. I was like '' when I read it, because my DotA 2 is literally on the lowest form of setting on every setting available, such that DotA2 now seems so blurred and pixel-ated! :(

(Both DotA2 and CS:GO is on literally lowest setting on all graphics setting as well)

    Thanks in advance!

    Additional information (if required):
My M11x will heat to a 70 degrees celcius normally when I on games, and on normal usage such as just browsing on chrome will take the toll to 50 degree - 55 degrees. Last year it could reach nearly 100 degree celcius, however as my warranty was still available, Dell change the entire motherboard, GPU, fan, heat sink as my heat sink is spoilt and all of them are attached to the motherboard (I heard from the technician). So what I am trying to say is the stuff are quite new as it's change last year on about between May and June 2013.

Is the machine actually getting hot when these fps drops occur? The m11x cooling system gets blocked with dust quite quickly from experience and needs regular cleaning and maintenance.

    Hello Simonmpoulton,

Thanks for the reply! Thought that the M11x threads were dead  but you brought me some hope back!

I am not sure whether if the FPS drop when heat occurs, however, what I do know is that normally at the start just right after the laptop has booted windows, it's best I played my games as it will lag normally at the 2nd match. Maybe it does lag when heated up? I heard that 70 degrees to 80 degrees celcius is normal from my brother though, which is why the temperate thing never really got into my mind. I clean my laptop fortnightly so I doubt it's dust accumulation though, but i shall try to thoroughly clean the ventilation now to make sure of that case!

I'd definitely recommend a complete disassembly and thorough clean out and repaste. It's not possible to clean out the other side of the heatsink perfectly from the external side.

I would recommend the same thing, it could be throttling due to the heat.
