I just received my Alienware m11x R2 yesterday, and I've been uninstalling programs I don't need, checking out the command center, changing the FX lights, and installing things I do need, like CCleaner and Microsoft Essentials.
So that was yesterday, and I don't think my problem came from that. So far, everything was perfect.
Today, I got that Windows Update thing, and I looked at the updates list... it all looked ok, so I installed them. Once they were done installing, something like this came up: "2 updates weren't able to install".

The highlighted are the ones I couldn't install.
Then I just restarted the laptop so all the other updates would finish installing. I figured I would just install those other 2 updates later, somehow.
When I logged back in, two windows popped up, each saying something like:
"Command Center has stopped working"
and
"AlienFX (or something) has stopped working"
Additionally, the AlienheadFX icon is no longer in the taskbar.
All the lights are still on, though. But I can't change the colors because Command Center is not working.
Then I checked the "Notification Area Icons" thing:

The underlined just shows that I just installed the new stuff.
The highlighted are my problems...
How do I get Intel RST Service (whatever that is) working?
And, how do I get the AlienFX enabled? I wanna be able to change the colors![]()
I am not a techie at all. Just an everyday computer user and casual gamer. If I have to do a clean install, then I'll do it, but I need instructions for that.
