I just received my M11x R2 this afternoon. I noticed that there is a very thin and tiny fiber on the screen that only barely moves when rubbed with a cloth. It's like it's actually BEHIND the screen. I thought there might be a protective film over it that I had neglected to remove, but I honestly can't tell, and I don't want to start picking at the corners if there isn't one. But, if not, I seem to have a little fiber living inside my new screen. Not to mention what appears to be a dead pixel (how common are those out of the factory, by the way?).

Time to RMA your new R2.

But, just so you know - hairs/fibres can and do work their way behind LCD's.

(The RMA is because of the dead pixel...).

Yeah, there's definitely a dead pixel on this. Found a green, stuck subpixel, too. And, if there's no film on the screen, there is also a fiber embedded in it. How lovely. I'm not going to tolerate this if I don't have to, but a full RMA seems a bit much. Won't they just replace the display if I complain of "multiple defects" such as the above? Or is that what you meant by RMA?

You're likely going to be offered a replacement LCD assembly installed on-site.

That sounds okay to me. I don't want a new system. I just don't want flaws on screen. I'm going to contact tech support shortly for this. Any reason I should not get it done?

I just hope it's relatively quick. Not looking forward to being without my new machine. Even though I've only been with it for a few hours.

Definitely needs to be replaced. Call them asap and you should have a technician come by the next day or two to get it replaced.

I would also test out the M11x with games to check all is ok before you get them out to change the screen. That way you minimise your pain.

Sage advice. That's exactly what I did. All seems well, and I love the system except for this particular display. But I have a tech coming to replace it tomorrow. I just hope that a) the new display is better (should be), and b) that it doesn't look like a technician replaced it. Like how my first LCD TV looked when I had a Panasonic technician replace its display. But that's a different beast.
