Liking the Nebula Red colouring but I still believe the R3 is overpriced when compared to the M14x.

Great! I have been checking UK site all day wondering when they will link the R3 version to order. Your link was perfect and I placed my order. Now I am need to figure out how to tell my wife. ;-)

Just as a reference for UK buyers:

    R3 w/i7, 4GB RAM, 500GB HD = £1218.99
    R2 w/i7, 4GB RAM, 500GB HD = £898.99

So that's a 30% premium on an R3, about what everyone expected. If they dropped that R2 price another £100 it would be a bargain.

FYI, Ordered both R1 & R2 at launch, and in both instances (a week or so later), they released special deals with upgraded RAM, better price etc. Not making the same mistake again, going to hand fire before ordering mine :)

I paid £1160 for my R1 with 256gb SSD. R3 with the same SSD a year later is over £1600!! That's crazy.

It is ridiculous that the R3 doesn't come as standard with 4GB of memory. 2GB for just under £900 is taking the michael.

The premium over the US (Inc their tax) still makes me sick!

Ya it's terrible. The equivalent US config is $1249 + tax (let's assume an average state tax of 5%) which is approximately $1310. At current market rates, the equivalent in GBP is £800. Even when you take into account our awesome 20% VAT, it's still only £960, amounting to a 22% premium (25% if you exclude the US tax).

If you can find a round-trip across the pond for £260, you'd basically break even. If you're already going there, it's definitely worth a look, especially if you buy an extended warranty, which is cheaper as well.

Yup that happened to me a week later and also when ordering there was no option for name plate...
The way I see it is I'm well happy with my R2 and what it can do, give it a year and I'll consider an upgrade.

Price premium UK vs US is actually in excess of 700 pounds!!!!

As comparison I've JUST done this config on both US and UK websites:

M11x - Core i7 + 4GB RAM + 750GB HDD + 2 year warranty + Bluetooth (this you must add in US website but is included in UK website)

In US you get a 350 dollar off M11x voucher so instead of it costing $1500 it only costs around $1164 which is

704 POUNDS!!!!! (voucher code is FHRRHN2JSKLHDL, I checked, it works 100%)

IN UK the SAME config costs you 1400 POUNDS!!!!!

    THIS IS MADNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DAMN YOU DELL!!!!!!!!! (orders flights for holiday to NY.....)
