Hey guys,
I'm going to order an m11x R3 soon and get it with the i7-2617M. 1600 mHz RAM will have an effect on it, right? I heard that on lower level processors it doesn't work (although I'm pretty sure that's only for i3s and i5s). How noticeable would the RAM increase from 1333 mHz to 1600 mHz be? Thanks!

The performance difference in clock speeds in memory alone (eg. 1333 vs 1600) is negliglible.
With the Intel i3/5/7 CPU's though, the main thing faster memory lets you do though is raise your CPU clock rate higher via overclocking. I'm not sure if the chipsets have changed since the i7 920/Intel X58 desktop CPU/chipset I'm familiar with, but with that the CPU and memory frequencies were in effect linked, so as you increased your CPU speed your memory had to be capable of increasing proportionally to keep up. That's the main reason for the market for really fast memory in the desktop PC market at least. The same concept should hold true for notebooks, perhaps to a slightly more limited extent. -

Oh, OK. I probably won't OC it as I don't want to blow up my machine. Thanks
