    Hi all . . .

I just recieved an Alienware M11x R3 from the Dell Outlet.
It is the i7 version with 2GB 540M card.

I have installed the latest graphics driver from the dell website - but cannot get SWTOR to run on this machine. I find this to be very annoying as I can get SWTOR to work on the integrated graphics on my Latitude XT3.

Any one else having issues running SWTOR on their M11x ?

Any help or suggestions would be really appreciated . .

    Thanks

Just saw this up by accident and thought i would try to help you out. Try this stuff and see if it helps. you could also try whitelisting the game in the nvidia control panel and seeing it that helps as well. link in my sig for that. :)

Star Wars: The Old Republic Tips for Graphical Performance:

    Tip #1:
Compatibility Mode for Windows XP -
Right Click on the SWTOR short cut. Go to Properties. Then the Compatibility Tab. Select the Run this program on compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 3.
Also select: Run as administrator. Apply changes.
This makes a world of difference on laptops.

    Tip #2:
Disable Visual Themes and Desktop Composition -
Right click on desktop. Select Personalize.
Scroll down to Basic and High Contrast Themes
Select Windows Classic. Hit Apply Changes.
This may take a while to apply those changes. Then you can see how much the Windows look has changed over the years.

    Tip #3:
Disable GPU scaling in the control panel
Adjust desktop size and position to no scaling.
You can do this from your AMD (ATI) control panel or your NVidia control panel. I'm at work right now, so I can't look at where the settings are.

Most of these tips should help that graphics related lag problem until Bioware optimizes their graphics. But this makes the game playable for me.

    Hi,

I just purchased an M11x R3 from the outlet for SWTOR as well. Originally I had a red i5 / 4GB RAM, a black i5 / 8GB RAM, but ended up with a black i7/2GB 540/ 8gb RAM after some haggling. (Long story) - All the 7200 RPM drives.

After configuring and running the game on 3 M11x R3's here's what I found useful.

The game runs just as good on the i5 vs the i7. I've noticed the i7 running a little warmer and the fans being a little louder, but that could just be this particular machine.

I noticed a HUGE difference between the 4GB of RAM vs. the 8GB.

Updating the NVIDIA drivers as well as the Intel graphics driver makes a big difference. Also, do the white listing and the few other tricks as mentioned above.

Since I run the game while on the go on battery power only, I dislike the loud noise of the fans so I fun the game on low settings, with all the sliders at the lowest at 1366. I don't notice a huge difference on the native screen since the text and everything else is so small.

Also, I have the NVIDIA card disabled while on the go and the game runs great on the Intel card (after the updates).

Since I'm on the go and live in a major city, I got a 6250 card and subscribe to the Clear Wireless 1.5mbps service and it works great.

    Hope you get everything working.
