    I am a heavy gamer and media geek. Love gadgets and recent favorites I own are the Archos 5 and N900- now the Mini Me (aka M11x) is on that list. I will spare benchmarks, since tons already.

    Build = A (SU7300, OC 1.6, 500gb, bluetooth, 4gb)

    Solid, well built, “mean” looking little lappy. Not having the hinge problem, OC issue or pad pixels issues reported by some.

    Display = A (for a device this size)

    In “normal” viewing angles, is very sharp and great color. Much better than the UL30vt.

    Speakers = B

    For just 1W each, they sound good & loud for lappy speakers and MUCH better than the “F”-rated CW27FX speakers. Sound is not tinny at all.

    Media ability = A

    1. Hulu plays stutter free (not sure why others are having problems). I have not played any 1080p, since do not see the need on an 11.6” display and will only use bigger display except for mainly some MAME action.

    2. DVD’s look amazing on the display and play perfectly (bought the Toshiba USB DVD drive from Best Buy- works with one USB connector).

    3. I use VLC and everything I have tried plays well.

    Gaming ability = A (please note, for ePSXe, NullDC and PCSX2, I had to update DirectX to the full update released on Feb 5, 2010- Some libs are missing in the stocked version on the M11x).

    1. ePSXe and NullDC play perfectly :)

    2. PCSX2 plays far better than expected. Every shooter I tried works as well as 2D fighters and some 3D like NFS2 and Bloody Roar 4 played fine. One note: I have a ton of PS2 games (real ones) and Raiden 3 is one of my favorite shooters. It actually looks and plays BETTER on PCSX2 and plays smooth as butter on the M11x :) When I say "fine" I mean they were playable with sound and most were very smooth.

    3. Killing Floor and even Red Faction 3 play smoothly. I expected KF to play fine, but not Red Faction. I am not on high settings, but still- great for a device this size!

    4. Had performance problems with MAME for some reason, but now seems to be playing as expected- great!

    Wifi = B

    Wifi radio is not as strong as I had hoped, but perhaps I was expecting too much. I have not tried bluetooth yet.

    Battery = B

    Battery lasts close to what is advertised, but I ding it since it is not quickly removable. Changing this out on public transport (bus, train or plane) may get you jumped and hurt for life.

    Summary = A. The math would make it an A-, but the gaming and media aspects have more weight for me :)

    I luv this thing! Small form factor and DVD USB drives work great with it for when you need it. When you don’t, less to carry around and less “stuff” in the chassis to get hot or mess up / stuck. I did not think I would like not having the DVD built in, but I actually like it more now. Strange.

    Rushmore, great review!

    Quick question for you: is PCSX2 a PS2 emulator? You're saying it ran smooth?

    Yes, for PS2. The 9.6 version uses the GPU a lot, so even with a 1.6ghz dual core a lot of games play well and better than expected. Some are slooow, but were slow on my loaded desktop system. Mainly shooters and 2d games, but Timesplitters, NFS2 and some other 3D play well too. Considering I thought PCSX2 would fail, I am suprised. BTW, I am a proud owner of a massive and real collection of Psx, DC and PS2 games :)

    Loved the part about battery changing :laugh: However, sad but trrue :wideeyed:
    Since, I haven't read anyone else trying out PSX2 on their M11X yet, how would rpg's run like disgaea (et al)?
    Good precise review. Makes the wait even tougher.

    I will check later. I just played and did not check fps. I tried to also play when no wireless available, but steam would not let me play in offline mode.

    Unless the screen is pointing somehow away from the light- not very practical outside in mid day blue sky light.
