Anyone here play Diablo 3 on their M11x?

Years back (2010) I had an M11x. I loved that thing. It was absolutely perfect for sitting on the couch and playing a game, or browsing the web, and I loved that it was so small and light. However in 2013 the motherboard died and I never fixed it. In fact I ended up parting it out for a buddy.

Lately I've been playing Diablo 3 a lot (a lot). I normally get to play for an hour or two as my son winds down at the end of the night and watches TV. But I've had to play with My Clevo X7200 on a board on my lap. Which as you can imagine with a massive notebook like that, isn't too comfortable.

So I've been thinking about getting another M11x. The R1, which I had had great battery life.

So, anyone out there play D3 on their M11x? What version M11x?

Are there better options out there in this size/performance category?

I don't have too much money and don't want to break the bank.

So you're looking for a 11-13" gaming laptop?

The first one that comes to mind (other than a used M11x) is a Clevo W230SS.

Rather small and decently powerful (GTX 860M), with a really nice screen. It does seem to run a bit hot and loud, but you'd probably expect that with a Core i7 and 860M in such a small chassis.

And I completely forgot to add you to my D3 friends list. In case I forget again, my tag is Ramzay#1967.

I recall playing Diablo III back when it first came out on my M11x R1 (SU7300/2GB RAM) and thinking that it was really rather playable even with 3 of my friends causing havock onscreen. The frame-rate, I believe, jumps between 15-30 FPS depending on what kind of action is going on. If I was to give you any advice, I'd say that the M11x R3 or the W230SS is your best bet. I did enjoy playing the game on my R1, however I think my standards back then were somewhat lower than they are now. I certainly wouldn't toletate a variable frame-rate these days.

I'm with you on this one, I believe that the R1 would not perform as good in that game as an R3 would.

Good to know. I'll have to keep an eye out for an R3. What is a good price for an R3?

R3 pricing, from what I've seen, is all over the place. You should be able to pick one up from anywhere between $400-800. I'd say there's still quite a premium attached to old R3s, and I've never come across a second hand one I'd consider good value. Another laptop to look out for is the Clevo 110ER - a little 11" i5/i7 monster with a GT650M which came out circa 2013.
