    Hello guys,

Have owned my m11x r1 for nearly 2 years now and have loved every minute but due to normal wear and tear I have developed the notorious hinge coming away from rear screen panel, due to getting a newer m17x r5 I have neglected using m11x and been sitting there waiting to be fixed, now my son is older I have told him I will fix it and give it to him, I have only realised now that when I bought it from a guy from a well known auction site the guy I bought it off never transferred ownership to me which he stated was all done 2 weeks after purchase, and so even though It is still under the 3 year on site warranty according to dell.com I cannot get it fixed under the warranty, I have emailed and messaged the guy on numerous occasions from auction site and email address so hit the end of the road and will have to fix out of own pocket, but seeing as I love the laptop and has never let me down it's not to much of a pain.

My question is do all the rear screen panels from all m11x fit every model as have seen a m11x r3 rear screen panel for sale and wondered if I would need to replace and change hinges from a m11x r3,

Also exactly what parts do I need to change or replace, are all the screens the same specs and sizes? Connections? I'm not the best with laptops and have struggled to find information on the subject, would rather replace to what dell suggests I.E change parts to m11x r3 hinge and rear screen fix due to hoping to get a few more years of use out of it.

Sorry for the long intro but tried to explain why comments about contacting dell aren't really viable due to laptop wasn't transferred to my name and as far as I know the warranty isn't valid due to this, exactly what parts I need to change would be a great help.

    Thanks in advance

Have contacted dell to see my options but due to Xmas holidays they have not replied to my emails etc, plus having trouble finding a contact phone number that actually works in the uk regarding warranty status, when I did get through to someone on the 15th dec my name wasn't in there system so that is why I was advised to try and contact previous owner to transfer ownership or to check details they gave on new owner where my details.

PPS sorry to administrators for posting question in wrong section, my apologies for not reading how to correctly post.

Send me a PM with your service tag and I'll check what part you need. It depends on the color and initial setup.

    Thanks for the reply alienware-L_Porras

Literally just got off the phone from dell after an hour on hold and thanks to a very helpful representative they are coming out tomorrow to replace the whole LCD rear assembly with part number 4ffhc which I have checked is the whole modified LCD rear screen assembly for my model so hopefully she will be as good as new tomorrow.

I have to stress I owe a big thank you to Chris Mizon who is a forum representative for dell who tried to help with a contact number and took his time to reply to me in a private message even though he is based in the USA and I am in the UK.

Thanks to everyone for looking and replying to my post and have a happy new year.
