I can post videos if need be so you can hear the creaking and whatnot - My question is are there any known problems or easy fixes with the hinges?

The hinge on the left side of my unit appears to be loose shifting up and down based on whether or not it is opened or closed causing the plastic on the back to rub on part of the screen allowing a large creaking noise to be heard. Also when my unit is closed the screen would look to be a tad offset not sitting flush with the rest of the unit - I've had my unit since February 4th and this is my only problem

The M11x hinges are junk, pure and simple. Check for related threads here. FWIW, the M15x has some hinge issues, thankfully this doesn't seem to affect the M17x' all that much.

@spalding - contact Alienware/Dell support right away. I am sure they will work it out either to fix or replace. In the unlikely even that you dont receive resolution, send a message to erawneila if you need further advice.

    Best Wishes, StevenX

Hu the m15x has hinge issues aswell? I never bumped into a thread about that...This is really disapointing. Depending on future prices I was doubting between the m11x and m15x, but if AW cant make decent hinges, or even bother to fix them, my money will be going elsewhere (beer).

I'm no expert, but I seem to have seen a thread or two specifically about a common problem with the M15x - R1. Haven't heard of anyone with an R2 that has had it though. Sorry, don't want to create an mass panic among M15x-R2 owners ;)
