The wife and I have quite a few Dell power supplies and cords from our D series laptops and are wondering if they are compatible with the Alienware laptops? Mainly curious about the M11x-R2.

    TIA.

Not to hijack your thread, but I too have had a similar question... but not for the same reasons. I hate how the stock M11x power adapter sticks out so far from the back of the laptop. It makes having the laptop in your actual LAP very awkward (I'm afraid I'm going to snap the power adapter off)

I wonder if there are other power adapters for the m11x that are perhaps shaped differently.

Mine all seem to work. Some of the newer adapters are 95W though, so gotta be wary. I'm not sure it will cause problems, but I believe using the m11x R1 adapter (65W) in the higher powered laptops will cause a performance hit.

Yes, they will work. Just make sure that they are at least 90W adapters. You will suffer a performance hit (and get a warning message during boot) if you try to use a 65W adpater on an M11x R2.

Yes, you can buy aftermarket chargers that have different angled adpaters. I personally use a Kensington Ultra Compact 80W adpater for my Alienware M11x R2, and it gives me the option to use a straight adapter-plug or a 90-degree adapter plug.

I use the charger from my Dell Inspiron (65W) in my m11x R2, I don´t move the m11x charger anymore, I have the Inspiron one at work and the m11x at home, never have any problem with it, and is been around 3 months now, someone say that as long is not higher W (more than 90), it should be fine....
