does anyone knows that m11x processor is available for upgrades? like it can be upgraded by user with an ULV i3/i5/i7 later
-
It is not possible as the processor has already soldered into the motherboard.
-
What the poster above me said.
Only thing you can do is wait for a re-fresh and more than likely you will see the M11x with a upgraded CPU. -
ok thanks. m11x no more on my list for the moment
-
Hmmm. I dont think any i-series cpu's will fit on the current motherboard of the m11x as they are based on different families. The duo core 2 family is based on the 45nm technology while the i-series is based on 32nm technology.
However you could possibly upgrade the cpu yourself as long as its based on 45nm tech.
According to a post on the dell community website, the cpu is not soldered onto the motherboard. m11x CPU upgrade? - Alienware Forum - Alienware Club - Telligent -
It is, believe me. I was the first one to open the sucker up and re-paste the TIM on the CPU and GPU. It's soldered tight lol. DELL-Chris M doesn't know what he's talking about lol.
-
Lol! Ok. There goes that option.
Not that I was planning to replace the cpu but potential future upgrades wouldve been nice.
Im going to treat the m11x as an ultraportable that just happen to play crysis...so the ultra performance not such an issue for me. :-D
Just a random question, but when the Dell tech guys come to replace the motherboard, is the cpu and gpu already soldered on the new motherboard? -
Sure is, you'll be getting a brand new CPU and GPU basically along with the mobo. This also sucks because in the unlikely event you get a faulty GPU or CPU, it'll always warrant an entire mobo replacement instead of just a minor component replacement.
-
99.99% sure that the CPU and GPU is already soldered on the new motherboard if they need to replace it as you need special equipment to solder something like the CPU and or GPU. I hope this helps. God Bless -
