    Hey guys,

I finally got my M11x R1 this morning, and really I'm VERY happy with it. However..... my keyboard is warped.. is this normal? The best way to explain it is that from #'s f5 to f10 and down to b to . , the keyboard has a bulge in it (almost like a bubble).

The girlfriend said that was for contour, :) however this looks like a flaw to me. I thought the keyboard was suppose to be entirely flush.

If it is incorrect, what's my option on getting this thing fixed?

    Thanks,

    Tony

Mine is the same way too. As long as everything works, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

    Thanks for the replies...

Next question is does anyone have keyboards that are not that warped? My keys are actually slightly off and want to see if this is something that's known.

Yea mine are slightly too, right in the middle. I had dell replace the keyboard and its only slightly better now. Its not really a big deal, the whole hinge and screen hitting the keyboard is what Im worried about now.

Had my m11x r2 recently. Not sure if mine is warped, but it has a slight indent around the letter "G" area.

    Guys,

trust me you can easily tell by two of the following things..

    1. first, it looks as if a section of your keyboard (mine being slighty right of center) is bubbled and the keys have a larger gap between them.

    2. if you hold your laptop up and place your eyes level across the keyboard, you can seed the bump clear as day.

Mine warping engulfs about 40% of the keys on the keyboard.
I'm going to have mine replaced as I'm hitting the wrong keys when typing.

    however....

everything else I LOVE so far. :)

One the right and left side of the keyboard there are clips used to secure the keyboard (along with the screws that are underneath). See if you can gently but firmly press the edges of the keyboard down in order to seat those clips.

To be honest I don't really want to screw with it as I don't have any experience with laptops and with how many issues people have I don't want to risk it. My question is, who should I contact about it. I always read to contact Alienware but which # should I use to call them?

I live in northern New York and could the cold weather during transportation cause this?

Thank you very much :) Kosti. Like I said I'm VERY happy with it and don't plan on going in guns blazing. :)

I'll just see if they have any knowledge of it and report back here tomorrow afternoon.

    BTW... Great avatar Kosti!!!!

Thanks dude. BTW, my keyboard also has the problem you are describing. It's very common on these models so I doubt even a new keyboard will fix the issue. I ended up removing mine, bending it a bit, then replacing it. The real trick was not to tighten the 2 screws under the keyboard too much. That helped a lot. It's still not perfectly flush, but is a lot straighter than before. The screw under the G-H keys is the main culprit.

some reasons, including the fact that the right side (if sitting-down-typing POV) is screwed down underneath (4 screws in the center-right, box shaped pattern), while the left side is only held down by tabs and screws on the edge. In addition, the left side is exposed to the CPU heat... allows for some warp, I'd imagine :p

Warning: this action might void the warranty.

The reason for the indented "G" key might be of the 2 screws underneath the keyboard is too tight.

Therefore loosening them little bit will level out the keyboard.

    This worked for me.

    Hope this helps.
