i recently bought an alienware m11x r2 that has the nvidia geforce gt 335m {1gb} graphics card, and with the new release of the r3 series notebooks from alienware i thought about upgrading my r2. The m11x r3 has a nvidia geforce gt 540m {2gb} and i was wondering if i could upgrade the graphic card on my m11x r2 to the one on the m11x r3. posts are much appreciated, thanks.![]()

No, you can't.

In a way you can, at least I read you can.
Just buy a R3 Motherboard and bam! 540m.
I heard they fit each other. So I'm just going off what I read of course.
The problem would be of course waiting for the R3 mobo to appear on ebay. -
thanks for for the awnsers guys, much appreciated.

and then it would be cheaper to sell the R2 and buy the R3

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
GPUs are soldered onto the motherboard, so no upgrading. Likely the processors are BGA soldered too, considering R1/R2 were and R3 utilizes ULV processors as well.
