i recently bought an alienware m11x r2 that has the nvidia geforce gt 335m {1gb} graphics card, and with the new release of the r3 series notebooks from alienware i thought about upgrading my r2. The m11x r3 has a nvidia geforce gt 540m {2gb} and i was wondering if i could upgrade the graphic card on my m11x r2 to the one on the m11x r3. posts are much appreciated, thanks. :)

In a way you can, at least I read you can. :p Just buy a R3 Motherboard and bam! 540m.

I heard they fit each other. So I'm just going off what I read of course.

The problem would be of course waiting for the R3 mobo to appear on ebay.

GPUs are soldered onto the motherboard, so no upgrading. Likely the processors are BGA soldered too, considering R1/R2 were and R3 utilizes ULV processors as well.
