So I won a bid on a Alienware m11x for 100. Says it won't turn on..so I'm thinking of getting a r3 motherboard and daughter board since it has the better graphics card. What are your guys thoughts? How much of a difference is the 335m to 540m? Thanks

While both are of course old, if you can get the mobo and it will work (I don't know personally, others will) and get it for cheap, what I can say is that the 540m will be way better than the 335m for older games especially of course.

I'd link you the comparison chart but it doesn't work so well for older gpus. Instead, I'll give you the two separate links.

Benchmarks and fps for games if you scroll down both pages:

And I'll link you Anandtech's link for the difference in the architecture if that is of any interest to you. 335m is based on GT200 and 540m based on Fermi.

    Thank you, I appreciate it ! I can either get a r3 i5 motherboard for 130 and that has a 540m 1gb or for 200-230 I can get a i7 with a 540m 2gb.

Oh I know I've read that post. I am thinking I should just put the original motherboard back in. How bad is. I3 processor ? I found a motherboard for $48 r2 i3 or $10 more I can get the r2 i5. Is it a big difference ?
