1) it has previously been mention that the ram in the m11x is underclocked to 800mhz, is this still true with the i5 version?
2)I ordered my m11x yesterday and accidentally opted for the 3gb instead of the 4gb option, and they will not change the order. Not a major issue I will get some ram seperately. However as there will already be a 2gb module in there I don't know the best way to do it.
a)Should I order another 2gb module direct from dell (expensive)
b)Order a 2gb module from Scan ( Scan.co.uk: CM3X2GSD1066 - 2GB Corsair DDR3 1066MHz 204pin SODIMM Unbuffered Lifetime Warranty) Cheapest option
c)order 2gb module from Crucial, which while not the same make as the Dell one, I think they both use micron chips. ( http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=00CB4A14A5CA7304)
* the biggest problem I am concerned about with B and C is that I have no idea what the cas latency of the m11x standard ram is? Would it be a big problem if the latencies didn't match.
D) I can just sell all the ram delivered with my m11x and buy 2 sticks from scan ( Scan.co.uk: CMSO4GX3M2A1333C9 - 4GB (2x2GB) Corsair DDR3 SO-DIMM PC3-10600 (1333), 204 Pin, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 9-9-9-24, 1.50V)
Or does anyone hae a better option.

1 - I thought when you OC'ed the CPU it went to the higher bus on the memory too with whatever the memory multiplier is. Stock 800mhz, mem rated at 1333mhz (R2)
2 - Return it and order the 4gb model. If it costs equal or more than what you are returning, no restock fee. -
But then I have to wait for delivery, send it back and wait again for the next one to come. Would rather shell out an extra £20 - 30 than wait a few weeks. Especially as if mixing and matching will not cause problems, it won't even cost more.
-
If you just ordered it yesterday you should be able to cancel the order and submit a new one unless you did that crazy fast build/ship option. They won't modify the order, but you can cancel.
-
Good call. Cheers
-
I assumed it shipped since they couldn't change it. Bad assumption.
-
Yeah, it is completely stupid. Surely it would have been very easy for them just to make the modification without me needing to cancel and re order. Either way. Done now. I just hope it doesn't result in too long of a delay.
My question still stands about the ram though. Does it run at 800mhz in the i5 model or 1066?
