This is making me crazy. I've been researching the problem all over the place and haven't found a solution that works.
I'm on an M11x (first version). I had to reinstall Windows onto a new HD today. I've downloaded both of the video drivers provided by Dell - nVidia Geforce GT335M, v.263.08, A02 and nVidia Notebook BETA Driver (NV), v.197.12, P03. Installed both.
My device manager acknowledges the 335M and doesn't report any driver errors. But my computer continues to display through the onboard graphics/VGA display. I can't change it to the Geforce through screen settings, disabling or uninstalling the onboard graphics hasn't forced it to use GeForce. I've got the Alienware OSD installed and FN+F6 doesn't do anything.
I am at my wit's end here and it's driving me crazy. I can't make my rest bigger than 1024x768, I can't play games that require a stronger video card and I don't have any idea what to do.

To make sure the video card is working you can go into the bios and disable the onboard and used dedicated only there. Since your keys aren't working you may not have your hot key drivers installed properly.
